“What is it, White One? She knelt suddenly and flung her arms around his great mane and buried her face against him. I wish I had wings to fly and fly and never come back! What has troubled you, Ogams powerful child? What can such a small one as Coren of Sirle say to touch you? For a long moment she did not answer. And then she said, her fingers tight around the gold, tangled fur, He has taken my heart and offered it back to me. And I thought he was harmless.”
-Sybel and Gules Lyon from The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A. McKillip.
I am doing a reread of this book for the trillionth time since I was 11. This time I actually started from the beginning(if you know me I usually just pick the book up and open it to a random page and read from there). It is still as brilliant as I remember, off course. I still get the same feelings from it. But I also get new things from it every time I read it.
I know I say a lot of books are my favorite book of all time. But this one I can truly say is my all time favorite book. This and Beka Cooper: Terrier are the books I have re-read the most. This is the book I recommend to everyone and anyone. I never lend it out though. No one gets this copy. The only people who have read this copy are me and my mother. It’s the same copy I’ve had since I was 11.
So, yeah.
I love this book.
