I’m currently rewatching the Pokémon anime’s Diamond and Pearl series (specifically the ones about contests), and I was inspired to make art pieces related to Pokémon Contests. Pokémon Contests and Showcases are probably my favorite competitions in the Pokémon culture and I wanted to draw more revolving around them.

For this particular piece I chose to use two of my Pokémon from my Shield team. I used my Galarian Rapidash, Innocent, and my Boltlund, Beast. I wanted to use Innocent due to his fairy and psychic typing, and I thought Boltlund’s electric move set could be incorporated into the piece perfectly (and to be honest, he was easier to draw than my other Pokémon).

I thought about creating a move combination between two of the moves they can learn, and I decided on use Misty Terrain and Thunderbolt/Wild Charge. I always thought the terrain moves would work beautifully in both showcases and contests, and the use of Wild Charge or Thunderbolt would make a good center piece.

I hope people enjoy it! I’m quite proud of it.
