https://goo.gl/kqcn2I Senior Protection Engineer Montreal, CA. $70,000 - $100,000 We are seeking a Senior Protection Engineer who will be responsible for design and implementation of generator, transformer, substation, line and auxiliary services protection schemes at Hydro Electric Generation facilities. The engineer will also be responsible for integration of the protection systems with the control systems to provide a seamless control & protection system. The main task of the position is protection engineering but control engineering is also to be done by the prospective candidate. Responsibilities: Design and parameterize power systems computer modelling, at Hydro Electric generating facilities. Perform load flow and short circuit calculations Develop Single-Line, three-Line, Relay Connection and Trip Matrix drawings. Calculate relay settings and program settings into the protection relays. Layout design of Protection Cubicle arrangement and wiring drawings. Provide system support (internally, externally), Hot-Line, Tele-service related to protection system and protection relays. Develop Factory Acceptance Test procedures. Conduct Factory Acceptance testing on protection systems, including tests with the customer and/or the customers Engineer. Commissioning of protection systems at the customers plant. Write Test Procedures. Plan test schedule. Integrate Hardware and Software. Conduct testing of the new Protection System. Record and report test results. Support other department engineers who are commissioning protection equipment in the field. Develop Operator and maintenance manuals in conjunction with the Lead Engineer Prepare and provides for customers technical trainings or technical presentations. Support proposal department related to protection system offers Education and Training: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Advanced training / knowledge in Protection Systems Experience: At least ten years' experience designing electrical protection systems in a utility environment. Specifically in the areas of system modeling, system calculations, hardware design, relay programming and equipment start up. Knowledge or Skills: Experience in programming Siemens, Beckwith or SEL relays will be viewed positively. Experience applying protective schemes at hydro electric generating facilities will be viewed positively. Prior knowledge of Excitation, Turbine Speed Governors, Control System and their interaction with the protection system is advantageous. Past experience building ETAP Models and using models for calculations. Must be proficient in AutoCad, experience in AutoCad Electrical would be viewed positively. Proficient in developing protection schemes for Turbine/Generators, Pump/Motors, Transformers, Station Services, Substations and Lines for a Hydro Plant application Proficient to an advanced level in MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Visio.
