what's the inspo for ur vocal synth designs in ur mvs? (mainly kevin but the other ones would be fun to know)
hiiii so basically for character designs i am looking at two things:
1. is it fun to look at (colorful)
2. is it fun and/or easy for me to draw
that second one is especially important if i know im gonna do a whole animatic/mv. kevin is easy for me to draw many times. one might say.. too easy [i am booed off the stage]. so he had to be fun colors to make up for that. i love ivylare’s geeky kevin design the community has adopted so there’s a bit of him in the simple shape of the hair (that’s also just an easy style for me to draw). but i didn’t use that existing design bc i wanted to establish a distinct character for my videos.
for other vsynth characters they usually already have an official design, so i put a bit of my own spin on it but i like to keep them recognizable. it’s cool that many of them have such iconic features that you can literally slap some blue pigtails on a cube and people know it’s miku. oh, that’s the other thing; if i make a character there’s like an 80% chance it’ll be a robot. thanks for the ask!
