Elemental Attributes and Status Effects.
So I have not covered the Elemetal Attributes and Status Effects yet, so lets get started!
For this there are 8 Elemental Attributes, using the right elements in battle will give you an advantage, Ex. If you fight a monster based on ice, fire will be best to use.
This is one of the Fire elements(There is 2, the difference with this one is it attacks a single enemy.)
This is the Explosion element.
This is the Wind element.
This is the second Fire element(The difference with this element is that it attacks the whole group.)
This is the Electric attribute.
This is the Darkness attribute.
ジバリア/Jibaria/Rubblerouser
This is the Earth attribute.
Mera and Gira are counted as 2 separate elements, although they are both fire element. It really is about the resistance and that Mera targets one while Gira targets all, meaning they both are different kind of spells. You won't have resistance to Gira if you have resistance for Mera set up and vice versa. So knowing the enemy skills will help with which resistance you need for this case.
Each elemental attribute has levels of tiers, the higher the tier the stronger the spell is, Ex. Merami(Frizzle) is second tier for Mera(Frizz) and Meragaia(Kafrizzle) is the highest tier for Mera.
Each element uses their base tier as a suffix for the next tier, Example:
Mera < Merami < Merazoma < Meragaia
(Frizz < Frizzle < Kafrizz < Kafrizzle)
For Dein its suffix is in the end:
Dein < Raidein < Gigadein
For Gira the suffix is in the middle for its middle tiers:
Gira < Begirama < Begiragon < Giragrade
(Sizz < Sizzle < Kasizz < Kasizzle)
For spells you will know if the tier is high if its Skill Grade is high(D<C<B<A<S<EX)
As for Attack skills and Support Skills, there are quite a few with elemental attributes, they will say in its skill explanation after its damage %.
There is also another skill that is sorta an element type but not really, it's Breath Attacks. Its more of a skill with one the 8 elements attached to it depending which Breath Attack but certain monsters do have weaknesses and resistance to breath attacks, and it can go as deep as certain Breath Element attacks(i.e. dragon type monsters have a really high resistance to fire breath attacks, but ice breath attacks does a tad bit more of damage because of its ice element, yet it is still resistant to breath attacks.)
There are about 11 status effect to look out for, it is pretty important to give your team resistances to status effects because some of them can get pretty nasty.
So in order these are the status effects:
どく(毒)/Doku/Poison = Minor Poison damage once per turn. You can use items and Support Skills to heal from this and raise tolerance.
もうどく(もう毒)/Mōdoku/MorePoison = High poison damage for each action you make(except when using items.) You cannot heal from this effect with items or Support Skills or raise tolerance.
マヒ/Mahi/Paralysis = While paralyzed you can't attack, use skills, or gain CT for skills. You can use items or Support skills to heal from this and raise tolerance.
眠り/Nemuri/Sleep = While asleep you cant attack, use skills, or gain CT for skills, can be woken up by enemy attacks. You can use items and use Support skills to heal from this effect and raise tolerance.
こんらん/Konran/Confuse = While confused you can defend or use the skill you chose before gaining this status effect, while under this effect you can still do normal attacks but you cannot use any skills or choose who you attack or use items. You may attack your own team. You can heal from this effect with Items and Support Skills and you can raise tolerance.
幻惑/Genwaku/Dazzle = While dazzled you have a higher probability of missing your attacks. You can use items or support skills to heal from this effect and you can raise tolerance.
封印/Fūin/Sealed = While sealed you cannot use any Spell Skills and Support Skills, and cannot gain any CT. You can't heal from this effect but you can raise tolerance.
やすみ(休み)/Yasumi/Suspension(Relaxation) = While suspended you cannot attack, use skills, or gain CT. You can't heal from this effect but you can raise tolerance.
やすみ(特殊)/Yasumi(Tokushu)/Suspension(special) = Same as above, You can't heal from this or raise tolerance. Only special bosses can give this effect.
転倒/Tentō/Toppled over = While in this effect you can't attack, use skills, or gain CT. You can't heal from this effect but you can raise tolerance.
呪い/Noroi/Curse = While in this effect sometimes you cant act and CT will not charge. You can heal from this effect with items and Support Skills and you can raise tolerance.
You can raise tolerance from most of these effects with armor and accesories you equip, using food or setting food combinations in multiplayer, and setting up emblems to your equipped armor. All of these effects wears off in a couple of turns, but some of them can last pretty long. The ones you should look out for are:
やすみ(休み)/Yasumi/Suspension(Relaxation)
These status effects are a pain to go through and can really change everything. These effect are pretty common too so have accesories made and equip them, equip specific armor to raise the resistance, set proper emblems, and make sure to use the proper food to make it near impossible. Without adding any resistance you will go under these status effect for sure.
Having resistance to both element and status effect is important! There are bosses that use nasty high tier elemental spells and even give status effects at the same time. The 4 status effects I listed are common status effects and are the worst, not being able to do anything makes you open and vulnerable and not being able to heal from it with items or Support spells it makes it even worse, so building resistances to status effects and spells are important!
On the next post I'll cover Debilitating Effects and Status Buffs, some debilitating effects are a pain to go through but having resitances for elements and status effects will make it less of a pain even while going through a debilitating effect(the only debilitating effect thats a pain to go through is when your Speed is lowered, it feels like forever for one Skill to gain full CT charge.)
