As a child, Elena Chase loved the sea.

Having been born in a desert town, she could still recall the moment she saw the ocean for the first time after her family moved to the coast of Maine. The endless expanse of various shades of blue that stretched all the way to the horizon and ignited her childish imagination with whispered stories of sunken treasures and legendary sea monsters. Every day, she went down to the beach and spent the summer snorkeling, surfing and sailing with her parents.

That was, until her parents died in a shipwreck and Elena's love for the sea faded into the black abyss of grievance...
