So I couldn't resist. I put my thoughts behind the cut to not spoiler anyone who doesn't want that.

So the hand holding really seems to be in the episode (they better not cut it like their toasting scene from last season) and I'm still not over how comfortable they look and that they hold hands for everyone to see. They've come so far!

So the The Griffin Incident is the zombie/horror episode and not necessarily Spock centric. Still think it'll have Romulans messing with the crew.

"Human Best Friend" looks like a fun episode with everyone obviously not being themselves, though I'm not looking forward to all the Spirk stuff in the episode. But Kirk slapping Spock makes sense if he's not behaving like himself. And Pike getting a ridiculous horse tattoo is frying me. That man really loves horses 😂

La'an fighting/sparring with Ortegas will be interesting. I wonder if they'll talk about Erica's Gorn friend. Also Spock's self-portrait 😾

"Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass" Now these pics are really interesting!!! From the title I already thought there will be some timey-wimey shenanigans involved in the episode but that's even more obvious with Spock getting seriously hurt and perhaps even dying (there is a lot of green blood and his body covered with a blanket in the 2nd pic).

And La'an looks so distressed. I feel like this could be the catalyst for their "breakup". If La'an experiences losing Spock, like she lost Alt-Kirk, and if her own actions/Augment side is somehow responsible for what happens to Spock, it would make sense for her to pull away and break things off between them. But I still think from what Christina said, that any breakup is temporary and that they'll get back together when La'an has found her self-acceptance. Or that's what I hope.

Based on another article, it is gonna be after the breakup. Maybe instead it'll be the catalyst to bring them back together? It's very close to La'an's episode where she'll probably fully accept herself. So maybe S4 can end on a happy note for them. I hope.

Okay, your theory makes a lot of sense. Almost losing Spock could absolutely be reason for La'an to reconsider and realize she still loves him but she still needs to come to terms with herself before she can fully commit to give their relationship a real chance.

So the breakup will last longer? Well, that sucks, but I guess that’s the show's pattern. They did the back and forth with Spock and Christine too, but yes, let's manifest them ending the season happy together again, until then I enjoy the angst and pining.

Romeo & Juliet (1996 movie) AU

In the city of Montreal, the Hollanders and Rozanovs are two rival ice hockey empires not shying away from getting their hands dirty to stay at the top of the food chain and keep their hardest competition in the game at bay.

Their young heirs and the most promising prospects on the ice, Shane and Ilya, meet at masquerade ball that Ilya decided to crash after hearing that Svetlana, his childhood friend and part-time lover, is attending. The two instantly fall in love, despite both unaware of who the other is at first and the impossibility of a relationship between members of the rival families.

Unable to stop their feelings though, they keep meeting in secret until the burden of their feuding families becomes too much and the rivalry on and off the ice takes an even more dangerous turn, leaving casualties all around. On top of it all, Shane is supposed to marry the wealthy starlet Rose Landry.

Seeing no other way to get out of a life neither of them want any longer and to be able to be together away from the family mess, Shane and Ilya make a pack leading to their (fake) death and leaving their families to deal with the hubris of their foolish feud.

Yeah, they’re both very logical, both Type A char­ac­ters, and very prac­tical – we do what we need to do to get the job done. Although it was a shock when they put us together, I was like, “Hang on a minute, that actu­ally does make sense,” because they’re prob­ably the two most alike char­ac­ters on the ship. While Kirk, I think, helped La’an to laugh, to smile, to open up more, it’s not neces­sar­ily who she is nat­ur­ally without out­side influ­ence.

You spent a lot of sea­son three dan­cing with Ethan Peck as Spock. Was that something you’d pushed for, given your back­ground in musical theatre?

Yeah, I was def­in­itely pitch­ing di erent ideas for that from day one of sea­son one. But I was throw­ing about ideas like Gorn with top hats, sequins, glit­ter, jazz hands, all of that, so when I actu­ally received the scripts, I’m going to be hon­est, I was a little bit dis­ap­poin­ted.

I was like, “Where’s the sequins, where’s all the drama, the smiles, the tits and teeth?” When that wasn’t there, at first I was dis­ap­poin­ted, but then when we got into it I actu­ally real­ised, oh my good­ness, that this is so heart­felt and fun at the same time. It’s groun­ded in real­ity as much as you can be in a space­ship hun­dreds of years in the future. I abso­lutely loved it. It was like a dream come true for me.

You have a major role in the creepy ghost story epis­ode, “The Grin Incid­ent”. Was that an intense one to film?

That might have been the hard­est epis­ode I’ve had to film for this show from an act­ing point of view, because it’s very hard to drum up fear, genu­ine fear – for people to believe it,

I have to believe it. And when we exper­i­ence heightened emo­tions, it’s drain­ing emo­tion­ally, so almost every single day, every scene, I had to drum myself up to like 10 on the fear scale.

La’an starts the sea­son feel­ing like her trans­form­a­tion into a Vul­can (or, in her case, a Romu­lan) in sea­son three epis­ode “Four-and-a-half Vul­cans” has awakened her aug­men­ted Noon­ien-singh

DNA. Is she con­cerned that her Khan her­it­age might become a prob­lem?

Yeah, I think that’s kind of always been a fear of hers from sea­son one, know­ing that she has the recess­ive genes of Khan within her. In sea­son four we may see that play out even more. I think the issue is that the Vul­can epis­ode has triggered the Khan DNA to activ­ate, so when we find her in sea­son four, she’s very much deal­ing with the after-e ects of her exper­i­ence as a Vul­can.

La’an’s lightened up as the show’s gone on. Will these Khan-related con­cerns push her back into her shell?

She’s def­in­itely strug­gling more in sea­son four, and it’s almost like she has to learn to accept her­self, the good, the bad and the ugly. We all have those parts of ourselves that we don’t like. If I was to sum it up, I think La’an’s jour­ney throughout sea­son four is one of self-accept­ance.

La’an’s exper­i­enced romantic sparks with both Kirk and Spock. Do you think that gives her a unique per­spect­ive on two of the most iconic fig­ures in Star Trek?

Isn’t that crazy? It’s so cool. Even just dan­cing with some­body [Spock] is a very intim­ate activ­ity to be doing with some­body, and the fact that she time-trav­elled with Kirk, I def­in­itely think she has a unique per­spect­ive on both of those guys. What is it about La’an that has a ected Spock and Kirk when we look at the Ori­ginal Series? How much of that has a ected their future and what’s to come?

They have meet­ings with the cast before every sea­son, and ask what we would like, and I think they’ve pretty much given me everything that I’ve asked for or sug­ges­ted. We have def­in­itely con­trib­uted to our char­ac­ter arcs, and maybe myself more so, because we don’t know what hap­pens to La’an, and she’s not on the Enter­prise in the Ori­ginal Series.

You, Melissa Navia (Ortegas) and Rebecca Rom­ijn (Num­ber One) are in the unique pos­i­tion of not know­ing what’s in store for your char­ac­ters. Did that bring you together as a sup­port group for each other?

Prob­ably more so me and Melissa, because we aren’t in canon, so we didn’t know what’s going to hap­pen to us. It’s like a little safety net to be together. We both wear red shirts, so it could be any­thing!

Human Best Friend has to be the shore leave episode. SFX saw the first four episodes and I bet episode 4 is the noir episode.

More episode speculation.

I think it's fair to say the episodes will mostly revolve (mostly) around the characters on the posters. Surely there will be group storylines and overlaps but it would fit with the previous seasons.

Ep. 1 - the cowboy episode with the horse riding, so naturally a Pike centered episode, but i feel like this could also be the dinosaur episode with the "Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure" (he wrote Tarzan and John Carter so that would fit with the archaic theme of primeval beasts in space).

Ep. 2 - Spock centric and I feel like it could be connected to Romulans because Romulans have a ship of the "Griffin" class so maybe they are messing with Spock. Possibly also the episode with Sarek's (and Sybok's) return.

Ep. 3 - there's a pic in the SFX article of Erica and Scotty in casual clothes that I assume to be from this episode, so it looks like this is the Hangover shore leave episode.

Ep. 4 - Una centric and the title could allude to the noir episode since "chiaroscuro" is an artistic technique to contrasts light and dark so maybe we'll see the return of the Illyrians.

Ep. 5 - puppet episode!!! Poor human Scotty having to deal with a Muppet crew on the loose could be LWD level of hilarious!

Ep. 6 - no idea, I first thought this could be the shore leave episode because of the title alluding to time outside of working hours, but could be a dive into Christine's personal life (if Korby shows up this season, I think it's most likely this episode). There was also talk about Christine's bisexuality coming into play again if I remember correctly, so maybe in this episode.

Ep. 7 - M'Benga centric but no idea what it could be about - sounds like something with time travel. Maybe his daughter will return?

Ep. 8 - most likely the ghost episode teased in the trailer

Ep. 9 - La'an centric with the callback to the Elysian Kingdom. Given what Christina said about La'an being affected by what happened when she turned into a Vulcan, it's most likely she will end up having to confront her "dark side" (thus the two La'an's fighting in the trailer)

Ep. 10 - I think this episode could be like the season finale of s1 with some glimpses into the future or meeting an alternative timeline Enterprise (I feel like this could be where the Scotty/Uhura kiss happens because her hairstyle looks very TOS).

Good call about the Romulans and the Griffin class. I would much prefer Sybok, Sarek, and T'Pring showing up as apparitions in Spock's mind than to have them actually show up.

OTOH, I just had a horrible thought. Spock sees Sybok, Sarek, and T'Pring and is convinced to go back to his more Vulcan roots and he breaks up with La'an over it.

I'm still hopeful they will stay together at least for this season and then who knows what they have planned for the final episodes but I still think the story will probably not turn out as straightforward as we may think.

I think it's possible that they could be apparitions if they show up. Maybe there's something on that Romulan ship that messes with Spock's head.

I definitely want them to stay together all season. When S5 comes along, I'll accept whatever they do (not necessarily happily but I will accept it lol).

With her struggling with two sides of herself this season, it would make sense to stay with Spock since he understands that struggle and can help her. They can help each other with their self-acceptance.

Absolutely agree with her staying with Spock making sense because they are similar and compatible and understand each other. Spock had already shown he knows how to deal with La'an's dark side with the katra stuff so he can help her again.

I hope she's flirting/showing off and I hope Spock teases her about the hat like she teased him about his shorts.

Good catch about the marks. They do look like some kind of bruising. The clothes look more dirty and battered in the picture than in the pics with them riding as well imo, so maybe the pic is from when they return to the Enterprise after the mission.

Going back to the Griffin Incident and one of the s4 out of context clues being "Spock's worst nightmare", i feel like the episode will be about some kind of "what if Spock didn’t go to Starfleet or left Starfleet to live on Vulcan instead" adventure.

Him having to deal with Sarek every day and not able to explore space would absolutely count as his worst nightmare.

I do hope the Sarek and (rumored) T'Pring and Sybok stuff is all in Spock's mind in the ghost ship episode. Because I actually don't want any of them actually showing up. Pretty please.

Speaking of the out of context clues, when Christina says 'breakups' and 'makeups' assuming she's talking about them, my first thought is we have 16 episodes left. We don't have time for that.

I thought for sure they wouldn't be together in S5 at all but maybe if they break up and come back together, they will still have a relationship in S5.

I feel like that's the most likely case because according to TOS, if I remember correctly, Spock hasn't seen Sarek in years so it would be in line with that if it's all just in his head.

I get what you mean about the breakup/makeup and having no time for that, but I feel like it will happen and probably resolved in the same episode. I think it's possible we'll see some strain on the relationship of La'an and Spock due to her having to deal with the Augment stuff which could lead to La'an pulling away temporarily but after resolving her issues (and possibly Spock helping her) they would get back together stronger than ever. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

But, yes, I hope the season doesn't get too crampy and convoluted with too many storylines and too much drama.

More episode speculation.

I think it's fair to say the episodes will mostly revolve (mostly) around the characters on the posters. Surely there will be group storylines and overlaps but it would fit with the previous seasons.

Ep. 1 - the cowboy episode with the horse riding, so naturally a Pike centered episode, but i feel like this could also be the dinosaur episode with the "Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure" (he wrote Tarzan and John Carter so that would fit with the archaic theme of primeval beasts in space).

Ep. 2 - Spock centric and I feel like it could be connected to Romulans because Romulans have a ship of the "Griffin" class so maybe they are messing with Spock. Possibly also the episode with Sarek's (and Sybok's) return.

Ep. 3 - there's a pic in the SFX article of Erica and Scotty in casual clothes that I assume to be from this episode, so it looks like this is the Hangover shore leave episode.

Ep. 4 - Una centric and the title could allude to the noir episode since "chiaroscuro" is an artistic technique to contrasts light and dark so maybe we'll see the return of the Illyrians.

Ep. 5 - puppet episode!!! Poor human Scotty having to deal with a Muppet crew on the loose could be LWD level of hilarious!

Ep. 6 - no idea, I first thought this could be the shore leave episode because of the title alluding to time outside of working hours, but could be a dive into Christine's personal life (if Korby shows up this season, I think it's most likely this episode). There was also talk about Christine's bisexuality coming into play again if I remember correctly, so maybe in this episode.

Ep. 7 - M'Benga centric but no idea what it could be about - sounds like something with time travel. Maybe his daughter will return?

Ep. 8 - most likely the ghost episode teased in the trailer

Ep. 9 - La'an centric with the callback to the Elysian Kingdom. Given what Christina said about La'an being affected by what happened when she turned into a Vulcan, it's most likely she will end up having to confront her "dark side" (thus the two La'an's fighting in the trailer)

Ep. 10 - I think this episode could be like the season finale of s1 with some glimpses into the future or meeting an alternative timeline Enterprise (I feel like this could be where the Scotty/Uhura kiss happens because her hairstyle looks very TOS).

Good call about the Romulans and the Griffin class. I would much prefer Sybok, Sarek, and T'Pring showing up as apparitions in Spock's mind than to have them actually show up.

OTOH, I just had a horrible thought. Spock sees Sybok, Sarek, and T'Pring and is convinced to go back to his more Vulcan roots and he breaks up with La'an over it.

I'm still hopeful they will stay together at least for this season and then who knows what they have planned for the final episodes but I still think the story will probably not turn out as straightforward as we may think.

I think it's possible that they could be apparitions if they show up. Maybe there's something on that Romulan ship that messes with Spock's head.

I definitely want them to stay together all season. When S5 comes along, I'll accept whatever they do (not necessarily happily but I will accept it lol).

With her struggling with two sides of herself this season, it would make sense to stay with Spock since he understands that struggle and can help her. They can help each other with their self-acceptance.

Absolutely agree with her staying with Spock making sense because they are similar and compatible and understand each other. Spock had already shown he knows how to deal with La'an's dark side with the katra stuff so he can help her again.

I hope she's flirting/showing off and I hope Spock teases her about the hat like she teased him about his shorts.

I'd love to see him teasing her. He does so love teasing the humans he's close to.

Good catch about the marks. They do look like some kind of bruising. The clothes look more dirty and battered in the picture than in the pics with them riding as well imo, so maybe the pic is from when they return to the Enterprise after the mission.

Going back to the Griffin Incident and one of the s4 out of context clues being "Spock's worst nightmare", i feel like the episode will be about some kind of "what if Spock didn’t go to Starfleet or left Starfleet to live on Vulcan instead" adventure.

Him having to deal with Sarek every day and not able to explore space would absolutely count as his worst nightmare.

NGL, this sounds concerning for Spocklaan.

OTOH, it also seems like the Kirk/La'an stuff is done so at least there's that. I was never invested in that even back in S2 before I even thought about Spock and La'an being together.

Maybe I misunderstood or missed something here because English is not my first language or I'm just too optimistic, but Christina talking about the relationship being in the end about La'an's self-acceptance doesn't have to mean something negative for her and Spock.

La'an's journey to self-acceptance, all parts of her, has been set up right from the beginning and has been spelled out in that conversation with Neera in season 2. We've seen her overcome her trauma from the Gorn and grow and flourish as a person last season, the only thing that's still left for her to do is to reconcile with her Augment heritage and not constantly fear it like the boogeyman or try to distance herself from that part of herself, and that seems to be what the new season will be about.

But her becoming a more healed individual and no longer a broken piece haunted by her past and genetics doesn't mean she will no longer want or love Spock. Because self-acceptance usually also involves accepting your emotional vulnerabilities, desires and needs and that would be huge and so important for La'an as someone who's suppressed that side of her or thought she's too messed up and broken to be able to love like that for so long - for her to finally accept and say "yes, it's okay to want this and I deserve this. I deserve to want this good thing and to love and be loved in return for all that I am".

And who better to help La'an get to that place and loving both her light and dark (because he has his own dark side) than Spock?

Maybe that's actually why La'an kept it casual with Spock and still held back in some way, because she was still not completely self-accepting, but once she gets there, she can go all in with her relationship with Spock (flying blind!!!)

But I agree, I don't think they will rekindle La'an and Kirk in a romantic way. They said there will be focus on Kirk and his son this season and also obviously the heavy focus on deepening the relationships between the TOS characters. I can't really see a romance arc, at least not with La'an, in the middle of all that.

I really hope you're right. This show just keeps burning me so now I'm always suspicious of them lol. But you're right self-acceptance doesn't mean being alone or ending things with Spock.

I really want him to be able to help her find that acceptance in herself this season and for her to let him.
