3. Do you really think there is somebody for everybody?
Okay so I have two answers to this, the easy one is no, because it wouldn't mean anything to find someone if it was destined to happen anyway.
The more complicated answer, and one that I'm more likely to give when I wanna sound cool and pretentious is that, mathematically speaking, obviously there is. There are multiple people for each person on the planet. If you think of this question in terms of what kind of person you're the most likely to get along with instead of as "the one single person who will make my life better" then it becomes kinda obvious that there are multiple people on this planet who would have basically the same impact on your life. Now I don't know if there is someone who currently exists who can embody the platonic ideal of "the perfect person for me" but at this point there are hundreds of people who can get you 99% of the way there. All that really matters is if you can find them, and if you're willing to work with them make up the difference.
8. Do you think you can put love into categories (family, platonic, romantic, etc.) or is it just one general sensation?
Honestly this is one of the primary reasons that I hate the English language. We only have one word for love. I like to think of love with similar definitions that the Greeks used, as they had so many different words for different feelings that were all love. I don't like having to use different adjectives to describe love, with romantic love being the default. I don't think that platonic love, or familial love are subcategories of love as much as they are entirely different emotions that manifest in similar ways.
86. What is your toxic trait? Are you trying to improve yourself and fix it?
I get really closed off and bitter when I'm upset. I'm trying to fix it but it slips through the cracks sometimes and I really hate how it impacts people around me. I just notice that whenever I have a problem that I don't feel like is being addressed adequately, it's suddenly everyone else's fault and I've never done anything wrong in my life and that's just,, not productive at all.

AAAAAA thank you Luke !!!! As always, you remain on your king shit
I'm not Jewish, but maybe check out Michael Chabon? I've only read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay which is about the inception of the American comics industry during WWII told and it's has both gay and Jewish main characters. It's p tragic though, and the Holocaust and the events of WWII loom over everything without being explicitly depicted.
Thank you! I’ll look into it. That’s actually a p big topic of interest for me so it might be worth starting there
Actually trans have it easier when they become radiants because they understand themselves better way earlier than others and had all that inner descovery travel. Shallan arc is more about accepting the things that happened and learning to process the trauma
I mean I don’t think that’s necessarily true, about it being easier. For one thing Shallan’s arc in WoR especially spends a lot of time with her deliberating on the type of person she wants to be, which lends itself to the same type of introspection that leads to both growth as a Radiant AND gender discovery. I don’t think Shallan has to be out as trans by the time the series begins, I also don’t think that she should fit within a gender binary.
Imagine the resonance of Shallan finding out for herself that who she wants to be is a different gender than who she is, and this self discovery is motivated by the same conflict of the book: Shallan isn’t quite who she says she is, and is trying to find out who she is while still keeping up a façade, and using her lightweaving to explore new identities. The gendered aspects of Shallan’s arc are already there, just kinda underdeveloped. During her time as Veil, a point is already made to show her struggle while attempting to break from Roshar’s style of femininity. If the identity of Veil was made more specifically nonbinary within the story, it wouldn’t really change much of the plot itself, but would add an entire new layer to Shallan’s journey for self-exploration. Showing the existence of nonbinary and trans people within a world with gender roles that Sanderson built specifically to be both strict and kinda silly is a HUGE world-building opportunity that I think is going underutilized at the moment.
As she finds safe ways to explore new identities, and takes parts of those new identities into her own, a change in Shallan’s gender would be a big marker in her progress to being able to accept herself as a radiant. It wouldn’t take away anything from the story as it is, but would add enough to Shallan’s character to easily make her the best in the series.
