20 ) A Massage - Elena Trevelyan / Josephine Montilyet

It was late, far later than Josephine had promised she would go to bed by and with every step she took up to the Inquisitor’s chambers, she felt it more and more. Time had simply gotten away from her again, as missive after missive had to be read and sent. An alliance or a contract read over until words ceased to have any meaning whatsoever. It was exhausting, but she relished in her work and its necessity. The only thing she did not relish was why they had to put the Inquisitor at the top of the tallest tower of Skyhold. Of course, when they had made that decision, she had not expected to effectively move into the space with her. Her feelings for Elena Trevelyan being an idle fancy and nothing that could surely be returned.

As she finally stepped through the door and took the final steps up to the room, she found herself relieved that those feelings had been returned, as she caught sight of Elena, sitting at her desk and frowning over parchments. Her blonde hair was messy, as if the woman had run her hands through it in frustration one too many times and her green eyes seemed so focused that it was likely she hadn’t heard Josephine enter at all. She was dressed in her undergarments and a robe of Antivan silk that she had purchased from a merchant in Val Royeaux, a mere week ago, a clear sign that she had probably been waiting for Josephine to get back before going to bed.

She cleared her throat, her heart suddenly leaping in her chest as Elena looked up and greeted her with one of those rare, sincere and genuinely joyful smiles that seemed reserved for only a select few. It did not take long before the Inquisitor rose from her desk, walking swiftly over to her and kissing her gently. It was easy to fall into the kiss, to wrap her arms around Elena’s waist as the taller woman cupped her cheeks. Her thumbs rubbed softly against Josephine’s cheeks, making the woman sigh happily, enjoying the gentleness of the touches.

“I missed you, Josie,” Elena whispered, nuzzling her neck softly.

“We saw each other at dinner, my darling,” Josephine giggled, smoothing down her lover’s hair.

“I know… and you know how much it pains me to say I missed you since you left my sight. It’s pathetic.”

“It’s sweet.”

“Is it?”

“Yes.” Josephine smiled, moving away from Elena’s embrace and towards her wardrobe that had been brought up for her. “You are sweet and loving, no matter how much you try to deny it.”

She heard Elena laugh, a rich and warm sound that filled her heart with joy. A laugh was an acceptance and since Elena had spent so long denying any sort of affectionate feelings whatsoever, it was a step that Josephine appreciated.

Removing her clothes down to her undergarments had become a fast routine, after finally getting more used to the layers she wore for the cold. Her nimble fingers worked quickly until she had neatly folded all of her clothes up and pulled a nightgown over her head. Sighing, she stretched, grimacing and gasping as the muscles in her back and neck seemed to protest.

“Are you alright?” Elena asked, placing a hand on Josephine’s back.

“It is just an ache, I’m fine.”

“Would you like me to give you a massage? It could help?” Elena moved around so that Josephine could see her, her lip held between her teeth. “I have oils that I bought with Vivienne’s input. I’m certain they might do nicely?”

“Well… I don’t see what the harm could be,” Josephine sighed, rolling her shoulders again.

“Alright, lie take of the nightgown and lie down on the bed. I’ll be right with you.”

“Well I know I’ve heard you said that before, my darling,” Josephine giggled, as she followed her lover’s instructions.

There was no reply as Josephine lay down on the bed, watching as Elena got a bottle of oil and rubbed it into her hands. The smell of lavender wafted through the air and Josephine felt herself relax at the familiar smell. Closing her eyes, she could sense when Elena moved close, her hands moving to Josephine’s shoulders and beginning to press and rub the muscles that ached so much. To start, she could do nothing but hiss, as Elena’s fingers pressed and worked at the tense areas of her back and shoulders. Each hiss was met with a soft and gentle motion, to soothe the pain with the feeling of Elena’s hands kneading into her.

As the pain started to subside, she felt herself relax more, a gentle moan leaning her lips as Elena massaged at the base of her neck. She had received massages before, but never from someone she had been intimate with, an extra layer that seemed to make a warmth emit in the pit of her stomach. A low chuckle rumbled from above her as she moaned again and Elena leant down to her ear.

“I think you seem to be liking this massage,” Elena purred, her hands skirting lower to the base of Josephine’s spine.

“Mmm,” Josephine mumbled, a smile spreading across her lips. “Too sleepy.”

Elena laughed again, before she pressed a gentle kiss to Josephine’s shoulder. “A massage and then sleep. Sounds perfect to me.”

In truth, there would have been no chance for anything else, as Josephine could not remember the moment when she had closed her eyes at the sensations and when she had opened them to a darkened room. She was under the covers, although when this had occurred she had no recollection. There was a comforting wait over her stomach as Elena’s arm seemed to be wrapped around her, a head of blonde hair spilling over the pillow as Elena seemed to be sleeping peacefully.

Sighing gently, Josephine settled again, enjoying the soothing scent of lavender that still lingered on her skin and the warmth of the body next to her. Closing her eyes again, she actually felt herself drift into sleep this time, her body feeling more relaxed than it had in months and her heart filled and mind filled with the gentle embrace that she had gotten so used to falling asleep to.

Elena Trevelyan is secretly super fluffy and will go to sleep with her head in Josie's lap whilst Josie reads reports and absently strokes Elena's hair. This is basically what happens most nights and they are so sweet and pure. Sometimes Elena starts snoring quitely and Josie has to surpress a giggle because it sounds so cute when she does it. I mean, until it gets louder and Josie has to tell her off for sleeping on her back again cause it's keeping her up from sleeping now and she's exhausted like Elena please sleep on your side and let her sleep.

I really miss talking about Elena Trevelyan and Josie on here... I think I'm going to remedy that. They are good. They are pure... well maybe Elena is more of a sinnamon and I mean Josie could really wreck your shit up socially and knows exactly whats up but I mean, their love is pure and I cry

Sometimes I think about Elena walking in on Josie playing with her dolls and they’re just looking at each other in this awkward silence before Elena closes the door and sits down with her. 

She’d probably pick up a blonde, male doll like: ‘This looks like Cullen!’ and then they proceed to spend the next few hours laughing whilst Elena tries to imitate Cullen and they take the utter piss. Elena makes it her mission to get Josie to laugh as hard as she can, because she looks so beautiful when she laughs and Elena loves baring witness to such a sight.

Reasons why Elena Trevelyan is a shit #4

Got bored and lay herself over Josephine’s desk whilst she was working late and refused to move until Josie promised to come to bed with her.

This happens fairly frequently and each time Josie is annoyed until Elena looks up at her and actually pouts. No one would believe Josie if she told them that the Inquisitor actually pouts at her, when her usual facial expressions are far more serious, but there she is, always pouting and always managing to convince Josephine that whatever work she is doing really can wait until the morning. 

This happens more and more when they’re in Antiva, because at least Elena was slightly more mindful of interrupting Josie when they were trying to save the world :’)

7) How do they feel about polyamory? (I changed it from polygamy because they’re different and have different contexts so... yeah)

Elsa is all for it tbh. I mean, I have her in an OT3 with Leliana and @alynshirslover‘s Atalanta Tabris, so she’s pretty chill with it. 

10) Do they include their partners in most aspects of their life?

She tends to include Leliana in some aspects of her life. She’ll keep her up to date and share a lot of things with her. Sometimes there are things she doesn’t share, but most of that is because she spends a lot of time in her own head and it never crosses her mind to sometimes share a lot of that stuff with Leliana unless it’s bad and she needs support or unless Leli asks.

16) Do they have at least one bonding activity they devote to doing with their partner exclusively?

Elsa tends to devote her time telling and sharing stories with Leliana. Sometimes they’ll stay up and just making stories up sometimes and cuddle and it’s really chill and sweet. Elsa doesn’t tend to do that with anyone else.

17) What sort of characteristics or quirks draw them to someone?

Elsa likes people who she feels she can be herself around. That usually requires common interests, but in terms of characteristics, Elsa really likes it when people have adorable laughs that make her heart skip a beat. She’s also very fond of anyone who has seen some shit but still manages to keep their ideals. She really respects that in a person and it’s one of the things that drew her to Leliana. There was a sadness to her and Elsa thought that despite all that, the fact she wanted to strive to do good made her really interesting and Elsa just wanted to spend ALL the time with her.

26) What do they love most about their significant other?

Elsa loves Leliana’s strength, cunning and her romanticism. Honestly, Elsa is so in awe of Leliana and just wants to cuddle her at all opportunities. Also Leli is a shit and makes Elsa laugh so that is very important to her.

19) What was their first impression about their partner/person they are courting?

At a first glance, Elena looked at Josephine and thought that she was beautiful. In terms of actual first impressions, Elena thought that Josephine seemed like someone who was exceedingly committed, talented and whilst completely charming, someone you would not wish to mess with. No one in the war room was there because they were incompetent at their jobs as far as Elena was concerned. The view cemented after their first actual conversation and Elena was impressed by her, something that is exceedingly difficult to do tbh when it comes to Elena.

21) What was the most romantic time they had with their partner?

I feel like after Corypheus was defeated, Elena convinced Josephine to make a couple of days that were completely free from meetings so that they could actually have a break once the threat of the world ending was over. So on those two days, Elena planned all of these things, like breakfast in bed and going for strolls and organising a picnic for them with all of Josephine’s favourite foods so that they could eat it on the balcony. 

It wasn’t much, but Elena made sure that she devoted all of her time to actually doing special things for Josephine and kissing her beneath the stars and I cry. Although, that is but one romantic moment and there are others that are similarly romantic. Particularly after Corypheus was defeated and it kind of struck Elena that she couldn’t keep running from her feelings anymore and that at least with Josephine, she felt safe enough to embrace them and make the most out of the good in her life. 

22) Tell us about a sacrifice they made for their significant other.

Elena would say that allowing Josephine to plan a large Antivan style wedding as opposed to the small, private ceremony that Elena had wanted was a sacrifice ;)

26) What do they love most about their significant other?

Elena loves Josephine so much that I do not think she could ever actually pick even a handful of things that she loves the most. However, I suppose the overarching sentiment is that Josephine makes her feel safe. She listens, she supports and Elena finds her exceedingly easy and amusing to talk to. Josie is a hard worker and she’s so driven and determined and yet so charming and kind and never lets go of her morals when doing her job. Honestly, Elena had no clue how she manages to do what she does in the way that she does it and she absolutely loves that about her. 

29) How do they express their love to their partner?

Elena has never really been wholly comfortable or an expert with expressing her love for people, whether romantic or otherwise. With Josephine however, it does become easier. Most of the time her love is expressed through her simply making sure that everything is okay. Trying to convince Josie to get some sleep and holding her and kissing her before they fall asleep, making her things or getting her small things from her travels just to see Josie smile.

As self-indulgent as Elena usually is with her words, she finds it more difficult to express herself verbally or even in writing. Her letters to Josie at the beginning of their relationship are even more formal than any she would send to anyone else because she’s a butt and doesn’t quite know what to write. She could think of the most romantic words and write them down after awhile and usually would shove them into Josephine’s hand and pretend like it was no big deal at all.

Has Elena ever told a lie to Josephine? As in a really huuuge lie? or does she often tell white lies?

I think to begin with there are things she just never tells Josie, simply because she feels the need to protect herself. Things like the true extent of what happened to her in the Circle, which she will gloss over a lot in the beginning because she simply does not want to talk about it. So I suppose any big lies are ones of omission but she usually reveals those later.

I don’t think Elena actually ever lies to Josie about something utterly huge. Small white lies about how much she actually slept that night or how hurt she actually got last time she went out into the field.

Elena doesn’t see much point in lying to Josephine. The reason why she loves Josie so much is that she is one of the only people she feels safe around and if she’s safe, she doesn’t lie. She’d rather debate a point with Josephine than go behind her back and lie to her about things or she’d rather tell her exactly what’s going to happen. In any event, if Elena did lie about something, Leliana would probably find out and tell Josie and Elena would get into trouble and she’d probably end up hurting Josie and that’s the furthest from what she wants to do ever.

So yeah, she doesn’t lie that much. She saves that for all the fools out there ;) [blows a kiss to the templars] Suckers.
