Oct 2 - THE GIFT OF HIS GRACE
Remember when we thought we had to sing in the choir, volunteer at Children’s Ministry, and be a doorkeeper in the sanctuary so that we could be “pleasing to the Lord?”
Or who remembers fearfully separating the tithe from the rest of your income so that you wouldn’t spend it, because if you did, you would be back under the curse of the law? I did that for years. *insert side eye emoji*
Aren’t you thankful now for His Grace! It’s always been there, but we somehow relegated it to something that helped us to get saved, and then, I guess, maybe it went away. Thank God for the teaching and preaching of the Gospel of His Grace! We now know that because of Grace, salvation has been made available to everyone! We also know that God’s Grace is the same for everyone, and it’s not based on what we do.
You and I could spend several hours per day in prayer, and another several hours reading the Bible, and those actions won’t make God love us any more than He loves someone else. Naturally, you and I want to spend time in the Word and grow in our relationship with Him, but that doesn’t give us an extra load of Grace.
According to Ephesians 4:7 we all have a measure of Grace. We each have the same exact measure. You don’t get more, or less, based on whether you go to church every week, tithe, volunteer, and run yourself ragged at your church. You could skip church every other week for the next 10 years and you won’t have less Grace than you do now. You could be Miss Goody 2-Shoes and be at church every time the doors open, send a double tithe, (lol!) clean the church bathrooms, and give your Pastor some cash every week, but you still won’t get more Grace!
Let’s just accept the Grace that God has given to us, and work within ourselves to better our relationship with Him. You can do that by spending time in the Bible, reading and learning the scriptures, along with prayer and worship. It’s simple! Get to know Him better, and your life will improve. You’ll enjoy a greater sense of His Peace and when others around you are stressed to the max, you will be the one that will help to calm them down. Because of His Peace in you, and His Grace!
Scripture of the day: Ephesians 4:7 TPT - And He has generously given each one of us supernatural Grace, (according to the size of the gift of Christ).
