Depeche Mode

favourite song: Top 3: Just Can’t Get Enough; People Are People; Fly On The Windscream (Final)

least favourite song: The funny thing is, it used to be Never Let Me Down Again (which I absolutely love love love now and can never listen to once, I have to listen to it over and over and over) but now it’s probably Blasphemous Rumour (which, ironically, used to be my favourite when I was a teenager)

have i ever seen them live: No. Which is kind of astonishing, really.

favourite band member: Andy. I once jokingly told someone that I was related to him (not that I’m aware of) and the rumour followed me around for years. (He does look a lot like many members of my family that my friends had met.)

least favourite band member: Dave (it’s not his fault, but he looks exactly like my friend Charlie, which disturbs me)

how many of their albums i have: Do you know that I actually own none? I did at one point buy Catching Up With on cassette to take to work, but I have always known and lived with such massive DM fans that I have never *had* to own one?

favourite album: I’m not allowed to say Catching Up With, am I ha ha. Of the actual official albums, it’s got to be Some Great Reward, hasn’t it?

favourite lyrics: Oh god I am still a teenage goth at heart because although I have burned out on the song, “I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours but I think that God’s got a sick sense of humour and when I die, I expect to find him... LAUGHING” is still brilliant to me.

favourite music video: Ironically, it’s Enjoy The Silence, given that I haaaaated Violator for so long. (Not really because of the album itself, but because that was the one that really “broke through” in the States, and suddenly all these arseholes that used to beat me up when I was at art school were dressing like me, and pretending to love them?)

ever met any members: Oh, only my cousin Andy, at family gatherings back in Essex, y’know, always have a natter round the Christmas Tree about synths and music software, as you do... (Real answer: no.)
