S01E09 | ALL STAR SHUFFLE: THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL
[ ... ] Saya, Genpachi, Rochelle and Sanaa feel the ground collapse from under them - and down they go. Their screams fade and your eyes drift to the projection, as per usual. The fact you were so used to it all was kind of... well, it was a thing, now. The projection flickers to life and you see things from a first-person view point. Whoever it is, they’re rather tall. They groan as they get to their feet, eyeing a fallen Sanaa. With a gasp, they rush to her aid, helping her back into her wheelchair. Distantly, you can hear anguished yelling - the person whips around and sees Saya and Genpachi, struggling to stand. Could something be broken? Are they badly injured? ... Is this insured by Bintang? Saya raises a fist to the sky and screams, angry beyond belief. Genpachi screams as well, more out of fear. The sky... wait, the sky? They’re not in Malaysia anymore, are they? What the hell’s going on? Is there anything you can do? Saya’s yelling something about being prepared - she picks up a sword and deems it a weapon. Even swings it around a few times for good measure. Genpachi flails about and manages to find a submachine gun. Being the gentleman he is, he gives it to Sanaa. The person who’s eyes you’re seeing through - Rochelle, it seems, grabs a frying pan for herself. Genpachi finally settles on taking a discarded electric guitar. He plucks at its strings and it sounds with a muffled twang. And then they come, with shuffled steps. Shuffling steps that get faster. [ ... ] From Rochelle’s viewpoint, you can see everyone taking off sprinting. Her hands grab at the back of Sanaa’s chair and she pushes with all her might. Everyone’s running for their lives from whatever... those things are. “Zombies!” Genpachi screams. Oh, so that’s clears that up. Out of the corner of Rochelle’s line of sight, you see what looks to be a zombie... wearing the clothes of a one Ms. Miriam. You knew she was old, but not that old. Damn. ... wait, a zombified... Karen? Are the rest of them...? Rochelle’s head whips back and true enough, a fallen pair of Lilys are stumbling after the two - and they’re picking up speed. How can Lily C. run in those heels? Even while dead? There’s a yelp and this time, its Saya. She’s been cornered by two - no, three zombies. But she’s refusing to go down without a fight. Genpachi struggles to bat them away with his guitar, but its to no avail. Saya falls to the ground. Without missing a beat, Sanaa urges everyone to keep moving. If all of the zombies are ‘fallen’ competitors - you don’t want to see Saya of all people when she ‘gets back up.’ Adrenaline powers Genpachi to move even faster than before, his eyes wild and full of disbelief. He did not just see his producer get turned into a living dead youth. Sanaa urges everyone to keep moving, her voice trembling. She seems to choke back a sob. The three of them keep moving for what feels like hours. This entire place, its barren and empty. Almost like a desert. Of all things, it feels very... deliberate. They were dumped here for a good reason, weren’t they?. They were dumped here because there wasn’t going to be a way out. They stop and ponder their choices. To keep going and keep evading - but for how long? Or to stop and succumb to their fate? There are some tears shed after much deliberation - but whatever it is, you don’t hear. The audio cuts out just then,of all times. You don’t hear their decision. Neither do you hear their screams of terror when Rochelle is suddenly attacked from behind. Sanaa’s mouth opens and closes while Genpachi locks up completely. Your line of sight drops to the ground. Was there a camera attached to Rochelle this whole time? Is that how you’ve been seeing things? The view glitches and for the briefest moment, you see what looks to be a HUD. Genpachi and Sanaa make a break for it, their fate unknown. They are tailed by a zombie - the one who probably attacked Rochelle. That zombie though, she looks angry and... familiar... Before you can confirm your suspicions, the words GAME OVER flash on the screen. The view pans back and you catch sight of a boy and girl, each of them holding game controllers. Their shoulders slump, having lost, apparently. She sighs and scratches the back of her neck. ... wait, is she wearing a shrine maiden outfit?
