Ok so because I need a MC insert, MC is the one who sees the in. Maybe she’s a maid for a really wealthy person, maybe she works in event planning/banking/art galleries and she’s become jaded with her job. She sees an upcoming opportunity, but doesn’t have the know-how to get it done. For the sake of scenario, let’s say MC is holding a Banksy auction (because fuck Banksy) and she knows these works will fetch an insane price on the black market.
The first person she reaches out to is Hope. Hope’s a famous art collector, and through working with her in the past MC knows that Hope is a fence and a really high class one at that. Hope then plays the role of the mastermind, picking out all the roles they need and people to fill them and coming up with the plan. Her and MC have crazy sexual tension. She’s played by Diamond White (I loved her in Empire oml also I didn’t know she was in Dear White People???)
Hope decides that they need:
MC to review security and operations
Someone to be a suspect but ultimately be completely clean (to distract the police and insurance investigators)- Lottie
Someone to create a diversion- Priya
Someone to get in and out and replace the works- Elisa
Someone behind the scenes pretending to be part of the shipping crew- Chelsea
Someone to appraise the work for the black market who will keep quiet- Marisol
Originally the idea was to frame Chelsea, because she’s not in on the plan and can’t accidentally reveal it, but there are too many variables to get her into place. They need someone calm, collected, suspicious enough, and who will never crack under pressure. Lottie’s the girl. Lottie’s role is to have access to the work and be as suspect as possible, leading the investigations on before finally it becoming apparent there’s no way she transported the works away. I don’t really have any actress faceclaims for Lottie, but Angelica Leira on Instagram has the right aesthetic
Priya’s only role is to get in by being a beautiful date to an art buyer and make a scene at a random time in the night. So much of illusion is controlling where people’s focus is, so I imagine Hope wants people to remember a specific occurrence at a specific time to make it seem like the art was stolen at a different time than it was. I imagine they do this because if the police think it was stolen when a different people (Lottie) had access to it, they’ll rule out the shipping crew. I JUST found this faceclaim and I love it already, Priya is played by Carol Chafauzer (I’ve given up on the faceclaims being actresses lol)
Elisa is just the girl to slip in, switch out the paintings, and slip out. She probably is posing as an art buyer or a journalist. Elisa isn’t saying anything, and no one would expect her because her profiles and following is so big- it’d be unthinkable. Plus she’s so high status already, why would she steal art? I picture her as someone like Jessica Strother on Instagram.
Chelsea isn’t involved in the scheme knowingly because she would absolutely not be able to keep it a secret under pressure. But they need someone with access and who doesn’t pay attention to the details of her surroundings. Maybe MC hired Chelsea to arrange the arts in the physical space for display prior to auction, so she also has to direct the crew packing them up. MC picked her because it’s crucial the person overseeing the shipping not recognize the fakes.
I would picture Chelsea as played by Dove Cameron because she’s got that super bubbly and naive vibe.
Once it’s been successfully stolen, they need someone to who has credibility with black market buyers to appropriately price the work. In this AU Marisol is an art historian or restoration expert, and Hope trusts her to do a good job and keep her mouth shut after. It’s probably the red lipstick, but I always picture Marisol as Mariah Rose Faith. I know that’s not the best because Mariah’s not latina, so if someone has a better faceclaim I’d love to see it!!
Shanon in canon is a badass bitch, so I imagine she has no qualms about black market art so long as she gets what she wants. I don’t think I’ve seen a good faceclaim for her yet, but my best is Denise Bidot. It makes me sad because her hair is my favorite part of her and I can’t find anyone with it, so if someone had a better fc let me know.
