The bat let out a yawn, another boring day at work, great. The mall seemed to be as lively as ever as crowds of people went by, nearly wishing a few of those people would come in and get a damn tattoo...but there were some waiting in the place so he shouldn't be complaining. He only closed his eyes for a second before a firm hand slammed on the desk, waking him up instantly.
"J-Jesus, Eli, the hell?!" The Talonflame gave him a frown, this guy always had to be mad about something, "No sleeping on the job, Jax, always stay alert to when new customers enter!" Jax pouted, slouching in his seat a bit. Eli may be the owner of the parlor, but he certainly was a pain in the ass, no fun with this guy...
"Your twin is being a pain, that's what's up. Why can't he be as nice as you?" The reptile snickered at his whining, going over to ruffle the bat's hair and headed to the back room, "Don't mind him, it's a slow day." Jax rolled his eyes, a smile plastered on his face. He haven't been here long but over the course of that short period of time, they grew on him, like they were family to him. He shook his head before looking ahead, his eyes landing on a peticular fella, who was just standing in the mall as if he was looking for something...he was nicely dressed too, wearing such a nice suit...and that tail...from the looks of it, he was a Haxorus....why did he look familiar tho--
Jax froze.
Suddenly, a wave of nausea and dread hit his stomach like a ton of bricks, god he felt like he was gonna throw up. He thought he could get over this feeling, but it seemed that just staying away from home didn't help. He still felt that uneasiness whenever he was around...
"D-Dad...?"
His voice seemed to crack, he didn't intend it to be...why did he have to show up...now especially! He did not want that man to see him. As if the gods were against him, the man turned his head towards the shop, Jax quickly dove to the ground, his heart pounding...when was the last time he felt this scared, probably a while since he didn't like the feeling...it brought back too many bad memories...memories he wished to forget... his antenna lowered as he could hear the footsteps enter the parlor, a hand touching the bell over and over again. In that instant, Odette came out, giving Jax a look as of why he was on the floor...but that didn't matter, she had to see what this man wanted first, she'll scold Jax later for this.
"Hello, welcome to BAP tattoo parlor, may I help you sir--"
"What a displeasing name for a store."
Odette was taken aback, though it didn't faze her, arching a brow at the Haxorus, "Excuse me?" There was a silence, the man simply ignored her question and she frowned, such a bad vibe he was giving...that wasn't good.
"I couldn't help but hear some...information regarding a employee of yours, he goes here, correct? Jax Thornton?" Soon two of her brows flew up, Jax...Thornton? Was that Jax's last name? He never told anyone about it, said that it was a thing of the past and didn't feel like reminiscing on it...she glanced down at Jax and she stopped. In that second, he way he was looking at her as he covered his mouth tightly...that was a look of fear. Right then and there, she knew Jax didn't want this guy finding out about him, she had to get him out of here. "Sorry, I don't know anyone of that name, maybe you should try the other stores--!!"
What Odette didn't expect was the man to suddenly grab her wrist, as the grip he had on her tighten, his eyes staring down at her coldly, "Is that so? I don't like liars, Miss. Especially the ones that they do it in front of my face."
Now, that seemed to be a mistake on his part...as soon as he grabbed Odette, he looked to the left side of him, Jaeger standing there with a frown on his face...and his right, a Swalot giving him eyes that were as cold as his. He then felt Odette yank her hand out of his, her tail glowing faintly as it sparked with electricity, "Look. I don't know what you want with this 'Jax'...but I suggest you look somewhere...because he's not here." The man scowled but didn't pressed the issue...he knew when he was outmatched. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a business card, setting it on the counter. "Well if you see him around...tell him that Calvin is looking for him."
And with that, he left.
Odette dropped down to the ground as she held Jax into her arms, mumbling words to calm him down as he panicked. Jaeger left to get the bat a glass of water and Uriel kept a look out, just in case the man ever can back. This was not happening, it was literally his worst nightmare...and he wasn't ready to face it again...not today, not ever. Just from the way he was gripping onto her clothes, Odette knew.
