“ nobody cares about a few forgotten lunatics. ” | MILES BLS COMFORT HER SHE'S S A D |
Hands gently take hold of hers, thumbs gently tracing over the backs. Part of it was true. The world didn’t seem to care for the victims of Murkoff and the people left with torn shreds of a life, but that didn’t really matter, not anymore. They’d built friendships. A close-knit family that Miles would quite happily die for. Elizabeth, Coraline, Waylon-- all people that meant the world to him.
“It doesn’t matter what they think.” His words are soft, gentle. A hand gently takes hold of her jawline, encouraging her to look up. “They’ll learn about what happened, one day. But you know what? It doesn’t matter if they care right now, Liz. You have people who care about you-- you’re not forgotten, you’ll never be forgotten. Coraline cares so much about you, I care so much about you--”
He presses a soft kiss to her forehead, one hand still softly holding onto hers, the other now tucking stray strands of hair behind her ear. “We’re not just a few forgotten lunatics, I promise. Once this is all over, they’ll know who we are again, I promise.”
