As if having to sleep on the floor of the gym wasn’t bad enough, Alexander was expected to do it under the duty of care of his cousin. It was adding insult to injury in just about the worst possible way and Alex wasn’t having a bar of it. In lieu of this, Alex had quite intelligently waited until Damian’s headcount duties had concluded before he decided to slip out of the side door in search of a midnight snack and something better to do than listen to Everett snoring.
It was dark and brisk and admittedly a little, tiny, weenie bit spooky but Alex wasn’t prepared to make that known. Instead, he tucked his hands into the pockets of his zip-up jacket and pulled it a little tighter around his torso as he trudged in the general direction of the boy’s dormitory building, taking his sweet time as he did so, with absolutely no intention of returning to his cousin’s encampment any time soon.
For a moment or so it was difficult to make out the figure looming by the art building but as soon as he identified the student, he grinned. “You little trouble maker,” he mused in a hushed tone, though the cheekiness coloring his voice remained clear. He was admittedly surprised to see Ella out and about given the strict containment rules for the evening but he was pleased regardless, to have a little company, “How’s it going in there?” he asked curiously, motioning at the art building, “Rumor has it Gwen and Louisa almost got into a cage match,” the boys had been laughing about it earlier, whether it was true or not.
