me at 5am after having cried my way through the last episode and a half of wandavision: guess we're clowning for the mcu again honk honk

other insights:

you know i wasn’t really paying attention to people who were saying that fatws had too many plot threads & could never wrap them all up in the last episode, because it wasn’t actually that many and i did see a way it could be done, but who decided that they only needed 20 minutes to actually deal with all the plot & the last twenty (because this was a short episode!) could just be epilogue fluff

the sharon reveal was on par with natalie dormer turning out to be moriarty though. if they couldn’t give her a personality back when she was steve’s love interest this is good too. (steve you have bad taste. why are you only attracted to war criminals.) please i want an agent carter vol. 2 series that explores what influence (or not) peggy had on sharon and how this happened

mackie saying fatws season 2 isn’t going to happen better be because catws season 2 is going to happen. episodes 1-4 did have more of a buddy comedy film, which deeply saddened me because i wanted to be thoroughly queerbaited, but they’re married now & if i don’t get a full season of them being husbands i will riot

i was being totally normal about wandavision & fatws and then i watched “the star-spangled man” and all my repressed liveblogging instinct roared to life. what the fuck

the bucky haircut making all the steve/rumlow suddenly 400% more plausible

bucky's expression when he finds out how he's remembered. "battlestar." captain america's sidekick

this show is entrenched so deep in marvel chronology. the constant references to captain america: civil war--mostly the mcu treats its back catalogue by referencing it even less than comics do. wandavision barely dove deeper than endgame, except for pietro’s death. but getting sam to reference that they’d stolen the shield before--a fact even i had forgotten--that’s the good shit!! that’s the good canonical shit!!!!!!

something about how even though spellman is black & the racism sam faces is handled with realism and empathy (so far) they somehow still managed to pull the aos move of making the face of the antagonists a biracial black woman

NOT to mention the antifa supersoldiers with red handprints across their faces. what the fuck

the way they both grieve for steve and resent him. white steve who was created in a war purer and more heroic than korea, steve who got to sleep through his eighty years, steve who left them. they’re both SO fucked up

jean grey: compelling because she is SO GOOD that a cosmic force that defines "absolute power corrupts absolutely" was able to live in her & she almost managed to control it

wanda maximoff: compelling because she has cosmic, world-shaking powers and is just a regular fucking person who is selfish & doesn't have the emotional stability to be a superhero & still fundamentally cares

jack is dean. obviously jack is dean. all three of jack’s dads have had moments in which their clocks were ticking down (sam’s trials, cas’s grace consumption) but only for dean has it seemed so terribly inevitable as it does now for jack, only dean never had any hope, any reprieve. dean knows what it’s like to resign yourself to having only the next few weeks, the next few days, the next year. dean understands wanting to do vegas in style before you shuffle off this mortal coil. it has to be dean on the road trip with jack. who else could it ever be?

but when dean looks at jack, you know he sees sam. another child who was his responsibility, who he parented to adulthood (or the nephilim facsimile). why did he even make the deal that limited his time in the first place? to save sam. now, what will he do--older and wiser, knowing that sacrifices don’t help anyone except yourself--to save jack? it has to be dean on the road trip with jack. who else could it be? who else has lost a son?

(does it help that jack explicitly compares him to john? no. no it does not)
