I can’t even count how many times my dad has used the excuse “I used to be a cop” to get out of speeding tickets. Every single time he says that all I can think is “shouldn’t you know better?” It blows my mind that cops can get out of anything.

Wow, yeah, I used to work with a kid whose father worked on the Highway Patrol and he bragged about going 100+ mph on the highway and when he got pulled over all he had to do was show them his drivers' license. I mean we are talking about a teenage boy so who knows how honest he was being but I'm not surprised if that happened.

In all honesty, Ford hadn’t been expecting that at all. It wasn’t that he thought she didn’t love him, he’d actually been rather sure of that for a while now, but hearing her say it and right now of all times made it different, somehow. Maybe it was because he hadn’t been expecting it or maybe it was because she hadn’t said it yet, but either way he wasn’t quite sure what to say. He had no idea what to say, but that was okay because he was pretty sure he knew what the right thing to do was. His hand went to her cheek and he leaned in and kissed her, pulling back only after a moment. “I love you, too,” he whispered.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

Ford had planned on going to get another drink and maybe shoot up again and then try to pick up the cute redhead he spotted across the bar, but when Henley spoke his plans shattered. It wasn't the end of the world, he liked hanging out with Henley and liked hooking up with her more than he liked hooking up with other girls, but it was unexpected. He turned back to her, a smirk on his face, and shrugged. "I was going to get a drink. Want to come with me and get a drink, too?" he asked, offering her his hand and smirking at her. 

"We’ll get through this together."

Maybe Ford should have seen this coming. It was really only a matter of time before Henley realized how fucked up things had gotten and that she couldn't keep going down this path. But for some reason Ford hadn't thought it would happen so soon. The idea of getting clean scared him, honestly, but he wanted to be with her and if being clean meant being with her, he would do it. It would be hard, but it would be worth it. He wrapped his arms around her and held her to his chest, nodding a little and trying to stay calm. "Alright. We'll get through this together," he agreed, though he was still pretty scared.

It was strange, but in the past nearly four years of being famous, it had never occurred to Zack that if he got in a relationship with someone who wasn’t famous that she would be the one to cheat. That wasn’t to say he was a cheater, but he thought it was the norm for the famous one to cheat. That combined with the fact that he thought Emma was really his were what made this so surprising. He shook his head a little when she spoke, running his hand through his hair. “I’m breaking up with you. You’re cheating on me and I’m breaking up with you,” he said quietly, almost scared of the words.

“Just because we can’t be together, doesn’t mean I won’t love you.”

Everything felt weird. Everything was weird. Life without Emma was so hard and painful and he didn't like it. Seeing her at the show tonight just made it all rush back, made all the emotions come back as strong as they had been the moment he left. When he woke up to a voicemail from her saying she still loved him it made him really think. He still loved her and here she was saying she still loved him. What was he doing? He pushed himself out of bed and to Henry's hotel room, knocking until he opened it. "I need your help," he said simply. 

“I’m not anyone. I’m me, you can tell me anything.”

Zack figured she already pretty much knew what had happened while they'd been broken up - being famous didn't really leave much to people's imaginations - but what she didn't know he didn't want her knowing. At the same time, he wasn't about to start keeping secrets from her when he was trying to fix the relationship he'd fucked up. "I cried a lot. I drank a lot. I slept around a lot. I thought about you a lot. That's really it, Emma," he promised, leaning in to kiss her cheek. "And for the record, you aren't anyone, because you're someone, and you're a someone that is very important to me."

Maxine tilted her head to the side and glared at Henry. She was giving him such an ugly look right now and she didn’t even care. He was ridiculous sometimes, and right now wasn’t the time. They’d been lazying around the past few days and hadn’t managed to clean at all and now her mom and sisters were surprising them with a visit and they’d be here in a few hours and the house was a mess. “Would you start the fucking laundry, Henry?” she asked, and while voice sounded of irritation she was pretty sure some part of her face showed how in love and not irritated with him at all she really was.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

It was already well past the time that Maxine should have gotten up and showered and gotten all dressed up, and it was past the time that she should have gotten up after deciding to skip out on makeup and doing her hair. She really had to get up, but Henry’s voice and his hand reaching for her made her want to lay in bed with him all day. She didn’t want to get up and go to a photo shoot. They could wait for her, she decided. The brunette laid back down, curling into him and kissing his jaw as she cuddled back into him. “Nowhere,” she whispered.

“You don’t sound like yourself!”

This was already so hard. It wasn't like Maxine wanted to be without Henry ever. He was her reason to breath and what made her smile and she loved him so much, but he deserved better. She couldn't make him happy like someone else could, she couldn't be what he needed, and while she knew that over the last few months she'd been nothing but in love and had said she never wanted to be without him, she couldn't stay with him when staying with him would hurt him. "I have to do this. I have to leave," she said as calmly as she could through her tears.
