STANDING IN THE HALL OF FAME.
ACET!
Well, that was fast.
I can't believe it's been a YEAR since I took this test. I remember talking to God and making deals with Him like "If you want me to pass this test, please make it rain".
and so it did.
nugs. :))
Anyway, If this is your FIRST entrance exam, GOOD JOB! Ateneo's an awesome school, especially for business and law. There are scholarships available as well so make sure you try to apply for one!
I can't really say much about the university itself since I've never been a student of it, but friends of mine study there now and well, they seem to have a really good time :)
Before UP, it was my dream university. <3 It still is sometimes. :) I cheer for them every UAAP Season and wear the shirt to classes. :))
So here are some tips to passing the ACET!
1) ESSAY PART.
You have 1-2 essays you have to complete in 20 minutes (i think). The trick is to be SYSTEMATIC and PRECISE about the ideas you'll be presenting. Make sure you use grammatically correct terms. If you don't know what the term really means and what to use those big words for, don't use them. Be sure about your essay and make sure your ideas are ORGANIZED. use "first... second...lastly" if you can.
2) The Time Limit.
I remember having to answer 30 questions in 5 minutes. So much hassle but the trick is to KEEP CALM. If you don't know the answer right away, SKIP IT. Get back on it later. If your time's up, GUESS. It's not Right-minus-wrong so TAKE YOUR CHANCES. (Then again, i don't know how they'll do it this year. mehehehhehe.)
3) Logic Portion.
Like what I said, Ateneo's a really good law school. So good, that no matter what your course is, you will always have units for PHILOSOPHY ( or so I've heard :)) ). In this part, you'll be given 2 statements and you have to answer if it's "Always true, Never true, Sometimes false, Sometimes true, unidentifiable" and stuff like that. It's very, very confusing. like... REALLY CONFUSING.
But here's the trick to that: It's called the TRADITIONAL SQUARE OF OPPOSITION. (I'll be posting a pic of it somewhere. I just have to figure out how first.) For that, I will be making a different post, but you can search it up in google if you want to learn more about it.
4) Follow the rules.
The proctor will give you the set of rules every after each portion of the test, before the test and after the test. Listen to them and make sure you do what they say.
5) Traffic and Parking
Trying to park your car sucks especially if you're late. Ateneo's campus is pretty big so make sure you get there EARLIER than your scheduled time. There are thousands who will be taking the exam before you, with you and after you and there will be that overlapping time when the two batches will coincide with one another.
6) Food
I suggest you bring your own food. STRONGLY SUGGEST IT. There are food places and stall there too, but you know.. time-wise, it's better to have your own pack.
7) Level of Difficulty
If you've taken the UPCAT, you know how it is. If you haven't, start studying up.
8) Just In Case You Get Lost.
ROTC officers are there to help. Ladies, the guys are really cute, but please focus on the test first. You can look at them more once you're in the university.
9) Make Friends In Line.
The best thing I got out of the ACET was making a new friend. Her name's Andrea and she's not studying in UST. She's an amazing girl and it was weird how we acted like bestbuds after 5 minutes of meeting in line while waiting. Make sure you try to interact with people. You never know who you'll meet :)
10) MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL.
PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.PRAY.
So far that's all I can think of. God bless and good luck to everyone who's taking the ACET! Oh! and they usually sell shirts there, so if you want one bring cash! :D
