streets of fire is really about ellen aim, she's the helen of troy, she's the object/symbol/onlooker who knows her cage and fights back the only way she knows how - by singing with as much power as she's got, she's adored and nobody can truly get close to her because they all see her as something to want/emulate/envy/resent, she's honest and good-hearted and self-aware, she's from a rough neighbourhood and she got out but she's looking back, she's going to survive the story on her own terms and she's going to give another performance to make your heart burst, she's the structure of the tale, she's the narrator telling you a rock'n'roll fable, we're the audience to her telling the story
