Riverbones - Ellen Cox
It was bound to happen eventually, and I'm kind of glad that it's Ellen Cox that becomes the first artist to be chosen twice for my Single Of The Week. Her previous track Fight Not Flight introduced me to this delightful folk-punk singer from Mid Wales, and this latest offering has left me primed for more.
This girl is more than just a female Frank Turner, she's a star in the making, a toe tapping strum coupled with a voice that you can't help but fall in love with, sweet yet powerful.
Riverbones, the first release from new EP Victorian Boots, is melancholic and inspiring in equal measure, a mesmerising track that would command the attention of the most demanding of festival audiences. Definitely one for my "need to see live" list.
