"Oh, sorry!"
Ellie fumbled with the remaining takeaway cups of tea she’d been carrying, shifting the polystyrene cup holders into one arm to help the girl to her feet. Ellie hadn’t seen her coming, hadn’t seen the girl trip on the edge of the pavement, hadn’t been able to get out the way quick enough. Several cups of tea and coffee were rolling about on the pavement now, spilling their contents, and Ellie huffed when she saw that one of the coffee’s had been for Hardy.
He was already in a bad mood, and now Ellie had dropped his coffee. He’d yelled at her that morning, about how the kettle was broken in the little kitchenette, as if it were her fault. Nobody admitted to breaking the kettle, so they’d been doing tea and coffee runs every hour to a local cafe.
"Are you alright?" Ellie asked once the girl was back on her feet, eying her carefully. "You’re not hurt, are you? You looked to be in quite a hurry."
Ellie’s eyes locked with the girl’s then, unable to shake the feeling the girl was familiar, that she resembled someone Ellie knew…
Broadchurch was not at all a familiar town for Daisy. She had taught herself as much as she could before she had left home, but it did not do as much to help her as she would have hoped. A positive was that she had arrived here in the small coastal town and that was the best possible news. The last part of her trip would be much easier.
For such a quiet town, the woman walking towards her had been in quite a rush, Daisy having to quickly step out of the way for fear of being trampled. A misjudged, ill timed step was not good for her though as she soon found herself on the ground. Blinking in shock at how she had ended up in this position, her attention was soon taken by the woman who had knocked her over.
She felt alright, nothing hurt too badly, but she was sure she'd wake tomorrow with at least a few bruises on her pale skin.
Taking the hand that was offered to her, Daisy used it to help herself rise back to her feet. Steadying her body before she quickly let go a moment later. This woman did not appear to be harmful, but the adolescent always did proceed with caution. It was not odd when you considered who it was that she had been raised by.
"Fine... I'm fine. Just looking for somewhere, that's all." When she spoke, her accent could be heard, much more obvious in a sound full of those who were English. A Scottish accent was much harder to hide in places such as these. "Sorry about that. I should have been paying more attention."
Eyes moved to the woman before her, Daisy feeling not at ease all of a sudden. The way she was staring at her. It was odd. Why would she be looking at her like that? They didn't even know each other.
"You alright?"
