vs the Train Station
@elnrwoodcomb
Cars blurred past. Chuck sat outside the train station, his suitcase on it’s end and being used as a chair, a box of the scant remains of his dorm and his Tron poster propped up against it. People passed by him too, and if they noticed the young man sitting with the contents of a dorm months before graduation and drew any conclusion from it, then they put it out of their minds and moved on. What did he matter to them?
There were tears on his face, but they had dried now. He’d run out of new ones, not out of feeling that the emotion was out of his heart but because his mouth was dry. A car horn cut through his thoughts and Chuck looked up, greeting his sister with a small raise of his hand. Tucking the poster under one arm and holding the box under the other and dragging the suitcase along after him, he headed towards her car.
Stepping off the curb, his suitcase tipped sideways just as the bottom of the box gave out. And the remnants of his life at Stanford spilled over the concrete.
