I have finally saw the entire season of Good Omens and I liked it.
Since I watched the Finale instead of the Pilot, I already knew how the show was ending so most little moments of the end made sense and when I rewatched the finale episode, it gave me another appreciation of it because it’s a good ending.
I think seeing the last episode first helped me into staying with the show, I really hate the old witchfinder and I truly think if I hadn’t made my mistake, I would have spent more time being angry of that old piece of shit than actually knowing that moron was going to be less an idiot with Miranda Richardson. I don’t like how he treated her in the finale but seeing how he was during the entire season, I started to ignore his presence altogether, I found his character useless and annoying. He’s not useless because he made it possible for Anathema to meet Pulsifer, so there is that.
The thing I loved the most in the show was the angel and the demon. They were the heart of the show and maybe the only great thing about it.
The whole angels and demons thing was incredibly headache worthy because Angels are dicks but we are supposed to believe these people are Good and representing the Greater Good? Angel provoked the death of a French Executioner and kept telling his demon friend to commit evil shit so he doesn’t have blood in his hands and we’re supposed to believe he is better than the demon because of???? He wears white? To me they are all demons to begin with, they are meddling in people’s affairs, they are literally letting people getting murdered when they don’t feel like they can and then they are literally trying to see the entire human race being wiped out just so they can have a war and kill each other and what win? Win what exactly? When Angel is literally abandoning his best friend because they are from different sides meanwhile Crowley keep telling him “we are on our own side” this made me sympathized with a fucking demon. Crowley is the most Grey person in this entire premise, Angel is cute and all but he’s an idiot and I don’t like him but let’s say his relationship with Crowley is endearing.
I started the post saying, I like the show but now writing about it, I’m wondering if I do. I think I like Crowley, Pepper and Agnes Nutter.
My favourite episode is episode 3, it was fascinating to see their friendship through the ages, I really loved it.
I have a love/hate situation with the whole Adam Young thing, he’s the Antichrist, I’m okay with that, I don’t care about that kid but I love his friends. I love the idea of him remaking the world through his childlike perception, it’s so cute and special, it reminding me of my own childhood when I had a huge imagination (high school murdered that, and that is maybe my biggest regret in life) and seeing all these kids getting rid of the Three Horsemen of the Apocalypse not with their imagination but by using truth and realistic and pretty healthy answers to all of our contemporary ills was amazing. He created a Grey World, the Almost world and it’s how it’s supposed to be in general in my opinion, except deaths should still happen though. Death is part of Life. He’s a child so I understand why he would create a world were no one dies.
Adam rejecting his bio dad, I felt that in my bones and I understand this. Parents are the people who raised you not the people who have half of your DNA. You can’t expect your kid to care about you and do whatever you want them to do for you when you show up once in a blue moon, you didn’t do the emotional work to deserve that.
Anathema Device, this girl made me sigh so much but weirdly in her own clueless way she actually push Adam in a way he might not have taken if he hadn’t met her. She gave him all her crazy magazines that actually made him believe in weird stuff and made him dreaming of them and change reality.
I think Aziraphale and Crowley are in love with each other, this was written as a romance, just because it’s not sexual doesn’t mean it’s not one. I think the screenwriter want us to believe it’s pure friendship, but I’m really the person who is rooting for more pure friendship in the media but that is too intense to be only that. Or people need to explain to that person, if they feel that way about their friends they need to think about their relationship and their feelings. Crowley was heartbroken when he thought Angel was dead and Angel gave him the look of LOVE when Crowley saved him and the book in that church, like a pure “L O V E LOVE” look.
Everyone needs a Pepper in their lives, (it’s funny because I can’t stand Pepper Potts) this child is the best Pepper in the world. I love her because she is a true friend, the one who will support you no matter what but also the one who will tell you off when you’re acting like a moron. She’s not a contrarian, most of the time when you have a character who has strong opinions in shows, they are sometimes showed as a professional contrarian, “not like the others and they are so special they love what everyone hate and hate what everyone love”. Her mother sociological lessons helped building her perception of the world but she’s still a child. It’s not an adult speaking in the body of a kid like in Dawson’s Creek.
Conclusion: I like the show, I wonder if it will have a second season, if it ends there it’s okay. Pepper is the GOAT. Crowley is my favorite.
