Bee pulled away, leaning against the desk next to Elodea, resting against the edge easily as she watched him with a level gaze. Tilting her head to the right slightly at his question, she smiled, remembering back to the days when she was just learning how to read herself. Those sunny mornings, sprawled out across the floor with her mother, listening intently as she spoke. The memories themselves were blurred with time, now more warm feelings and a series of still images rather than actual, solid memories. "When I was younger, my mother first taught me how to read and write. She would spend her mornings with me going over the letters. She taught me the bare bones of it and later on it was Mrs. Cherrier who would teach me the rest. In turn, I taught my younger sisters to help my mother out, as she's often very busy." Bee explained, a warm but far-away look on her face as she recalled her happy childhood memories. "We were fortunate to have the chance to learn, as many people do not." She raised an eyebrow at the other questions of his, a serious look coming over her as she thought about what he had asked. Her eyes wandered from him once more, drifting upwards as she examined the space above his head, the tip of her tail flicking a few times as she thought. After a moment or two of silence spent in deep thought, she spoke at last, answering his questions earnestly. For Bee, a question asked honestly was worth answering. "I wouldn't say reading started that, no. I mean it's certainly helped learning it, but magic has always just...been there for me. I’ve been learning it from an early age as well. Magic is, of course, equal parts instinct and theory. Well, and practice too." She laughed, "Honestly, if you're concerned about controlling your aether, I'd say practice is far more important than reading about it in a book. There's only so much a book can teach you." She held up her right hand, palm towards the ceiling, fingers curled in a gentle fist at first. Slowly she uncurled her fingers until her palm was completely open. A very soft shimmer seemed to run across the skin of her arm, almost indecipherable lines of soft light that disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Tracing strange lines as it moved upwards towards her fingers, disappearing at the tips as a bright ball of light suddenly formed just over Bee's palm. She held her hand aloft, the ball spinning slightly as it suddenly took the shape of a small dagger, hovering in the air over her palm, point to the ceiling. "Of course, that's not to say that reading doesn't have its merits. Often times you'll find fairly interesting theories in books that you can take and then, with practice, utilize in new and interesting ways." Bee gave the dagger a quick spin about in her palm with a slight movement of her fingers before suddenly pulling her fingers back into her palm, closing her hand and dissipating the dagger. Turning back to Elodea, she grinned, always happy to show off. "Are you looking to learn magic too? Or just reading for now?"
I think the game is trying to tell me something.
