in the past year i've been called a dirty arab and, when I objected to the racist language, got called a race faker too. I got called a rape apologist (interestingly, both asks calling me a rape apologist AND race faker were published and platformed by the same user.)
I've seen posts going around that claim, completely without source, that every single Palestinian infant is the product of marital rape, that Israeli men do not rape Palestinian women and when evidence is shown, go on to claim "rape is a male problem" (but when non-white men are rapists, it's due to their inferior misogynistic culture, and "what's the alternative?" to a genocide, because starving children to death and blowing their limbs off is apparently how sexism will be solved).
I've been personally ordered around by a half dozen tumblr accounts on who to vote for, what to read, and not to express my misgivings that aiding and abetting an ongoing genocide, one which will continue no matter who is ostensibly in power. From the same community that's tried to call me a rape apologist and antisemite due solely to my ethnicity (because I fucking KNOW that you won't be able to use my writing to prove I have those beliefs, since I don't have those beliefs.)
When the genderists on here call me "literally hitler" and "kinkphobic" and a "terf" I can laugh off the ridiculous behavior. If this were real life, the optics of a white western teenager telling someone who looks and sounds like me that I'm "a literal nazi" would be ridiculous. But it's the internet, teenagers are going to teenage, and the rest of it is a ridiculous fringe movement based around men's rights activism.
But to receive this message from grown women, who I've followed and interacted with online for years? Yeah, that's different. The past year has been eye-opening. I know there's a racism problem on tumblr, on the internet, in society. I'm not stupid. But I really didn't think so many of you following me and interacting with me actually think all Palestinians, Arabs, and all Middle Eastern ethnicities, deserve to be actually killed. Maybe it is naive of me to feel this way, but it was a surprise.
