Are there any holidays that the cuckoos like to celebrate?
am | WORLD BUILDING & DEVELOPMENT
as bleak as it sounds ? not really. it’s mostly a lack of connection to religious or familialtraditions ( calling your genetic mother old isn’t a tradition , no matter how many times you do it ) and most of the things they do choose to celebrate are self referential and seemingly chosen at random.
they’ll participate in festivities if invited or asked to , but it’s safe to assume they’re not reciprocating with invitations to their own celebrations.

u old bruh
i'm actually feeling so old right now my knee is playing up and i'm hobbling around everywhere
i'd love to see some more lawyer things going down tbh.
i totally understand that, guess it's all about plotting. i'm going to work on that because Lawyer Di is one of my favorite things to write, it's just a bit difficult to get anything started that STAYS about the job?
there's an empty bottle of vodka in the bed and if that isn't a sign that everything is fucked beyond repair. his head is screaming in agony, and he's too late to do anything about it now. the alcohol has already been filtered from his system and all that's left is dehydration. the fact that his body even needs water when he can slip in and out of different skins is bullshit.
he throws back the covers and forces himself to his feet, staggering into the bathroom with all the dexterity of a kid who's just gotten off a roundabout. it was a few seconds before he noticed his reflection...
well fuck. he should have expected that this would be the face staring back, although it was a surprise that he'd manage to sleep through the transition. usually it hurt to become this miserable sack of shit. trying to summon the energy to strip off his underpants, he turns the taps on the tiny bath. he's never used the facilities in his sister's apartment before and he feels too god damned awful to bother with temperature testing. when he gets in (still in his underwear, because fuck it) it's too fucking hot, not enough to burn but still on the wrong side of painful. the sensitive skin over the healing stab wounds courtesy of his dear sister ached, even as the tension in his head eased slightly.
the bath itself was tiny, probably meant more as a selling feature than an actual functional space, so in order to get his shoulders underwater he was forced to bend his legs almost double. he knew that some shed skins and changed faces like it was a game but he'd always found it so difficult. it's why he kept going back to the same familiar faces every time. he knew those faces, how they worked, what expressions looked like. but this face...
whether it was the face itself, the physical composition of this particular formation of his brain, or just the psychological impact of having this appearance, he always felt so absurdly vulnerable. it's why he refused to acknowledge this face as part of eric (even though he knew it was more him than any other). this face was naoise, a phase to be endured just like this shitty fucking hangover.
it might have been twenty minutes or it might have been two hours before he decided to drag his sorry ass out of the now tepid water, wrap himself in a towel and shuffle his way back into the living area where he lay down on the sofa and tried to let himself fall back to sleep.
five times kissed :|
five times kissed meme.
step one: scent.
it starts with a smile, it always does. he flashes oddly sharp teeth in a heart-warming fashion, he seems almost innocent at this point. she smiles back, and they exchange words about the usual small talk; the weather, the oddness of human beings. she comments that she doesn’t normally fraternize with his kind, and he simply laughs. it would be too easy if he would agree, wouldn’t it? he shakes his head, and takes her smaller hand in his own. eyes lock onto hers, and he simply brushes lips chastely over the back of her knuckles, and comments about being a true gentleman. she wonders if he’s lying.
step two: track.
some might find it odd, how they keeping running into each other in seemingly innocent settings. this time the coffee shop, and he offers to pay for her. she’s almost tempted to be offended, and tell him she doesn’t need his help, but he’s already paid and is turning the conversation in a different direction. they find themselves on a walk, commenting on society and the inevitable downfall of the human race. or, he does, and she disagrees and says she hopes for the best. they part ways, but not before his lips are making soft contact with her cheek, lingering for a moment before he smiles, and he leaves.
step three: trust.
using children for his own personal gain is something he hasn’t never been shy of, and his daughters are no different. he runs into her again, it’s hard to tell if there’s any kind of pattern to his subtle stalking. his daughter pinned to his chest, cradled carefully in a makeshift sling, and he waves her over. introduces her to the little girl, and she comments on how she likes the name. astrid coos, as if responding to the compliment, and he grins. she says she has to hurry on, late to meet someone, but she presses a kiss to both his and his daughter’s foreheads before bidding her farewell.
step four: fear.
there is a natural limit to his impulse control, for underneath his skin lives something darker than imaginable. he snaps, and yells at her for something he has no right, and she huffs, retaliates with just as much gusto. it doesn’t take long for him to fling a glass, narrowly missing her and smashing to the floor behind her. they both freeze, and he realizes he has one of two ways. his lower lip juts out, and he looks from her to the glass, before he begins to apologize profusely. he’s just a little boy, he doesn’t have many friends, all the usual excuses. she frowns, but allows him to kiss her palm as he grovels at her feet. she leaves, and says she needs time.
step five: the end.
to know when one is in a dangerous situation, and how to get out, is an important skill to learn. she learns it, quickly, when it isn’t just one outbreak, when he starts to give off a bad vibe, one she expected from him from the start. it hurts, maybe, because some part of her thinks she could help him, but she tells him goodbye anyway. he tries to disagree, but she cuts him off with a kiss, and he could swear he feels a tear on her cheek. he closes his eyes, and tells her to go, and opens them back up to an empty room.
