I wrote this fic to process accumulating loss and explore various ways death shapes our lives. Ultimately I think death is synonymous with duty. We should care for others as they approach that goal, and then care for their memory once they reach it. There is a lot of beauty in that!

Weisshaupt was a nightmare. An army of darkspawn climbing up the walls, hundreds of fresh bodies littering the floor and a sky promising death had overwhelmed him. No air could enter his lungs. Howls and explosions reverberated through weak bones. Sticky meat clung to his hands as he’d tripped on a pile of young heroes, their burning flesh an infectious heat. Emmrich found himself barricaded in a cupboard. Cowering. Vicious terror coursing through his body distracted him from the splinters piercing his cheeks as a hammer burst through the door.

I genuinely went in to this trying to make the bedroom scene more romantic, but Ellie kept being mean. I let many of you down. I apologize. 💔

Chapter 3: Easier to Care 🌷

Plagued by insecurities, Emmrich struggles to help a grieving Rook when she gets sad news from back home. ⎮ 2.9k

The loss of a parent, mentor or pet: It does not matter. Someone becomes a part of your life and you never know when they might leave. Love inevitably leads to grief. Rook's tears began to stream. She mourned and he watched. Harding consoled her friend. Quiet whispers and ink-stained thumbs brushing wet cheeks.

I have written another fic!! ........... or at least a first chapter for one!

I remember ultimately deciding to romance Emmrich when I learned a friend of mine had passed away. Loss kept compiling for me and my friends and.. bruh. We would laugh it off, but the hits kept coming! H2 2024 was not left a good review. But... We survived! A lot of others didn't. But we need to learn how to keep going despite that. Writing this has been part of my attempt. I think it's helped! Comfort with loss isn't easy and it's precarious. I can't say I've mastered it, but I've gotten better. On top of being a a morose bitch, I'm also a dwarf lover through and through!! If you thought my dwarf patriotism wasn't going to bleed in to my feelings about death: think again!!

I hope this is cute! I was aiming for cute! A cute, empty desperation? Why not!

I'm looking at 3 potential chapters here... let's see how long it takes me to edit! :') I hope you and your loved ones are safe ❤️
