I was experimenting with how to show his aura magic when he’s upset. I’m very slow at drawing and haven’t even finished Adi or started on Elsu’s picture.
Nascha inherited radial emotional aura magic from his mother. He's able to project emotions outward and effect the moods of others. Though it is a form of passive magic, emotional aura magic is very difficult to control and master. Nascha spends more time trying to prevent his moods from changing the moods of others, than using it to his advantage. Though he has on occasion, used it to his advantage when he’s gambling or fighting. His allied elements are fire magic with a bit of an affinity for aither. When you can see his magic it looks radiant and orange. When he casts a spell on someone, it feels hot, heavy, and a bit forceful. Because Nascha hasn't mastered his aura his magic is almost always like a far too tight hug or punch to the face when he casts a spell on someone. Don't let him try to use healing magic, it's a bad idea. Anything he tries to heal with burn, scar and will become a magical dead-zone completely unresponsive to magic.
(The magic description of the other two is below the cut)
Elsu’s magic is very organic, literally. His allied elements are wood and air. He carries different types of seeds and roots that he can use to grow plants from. His favorite plants to use are morning glory, sage, yarrow and acacia. Do to his affinity with plants he’s very good at potion and posion making, provided he doesn’t get distracted. If he’s going to use magic to attack someone it's usually with poisonous plants like thorny nightshade, oleander or with lightning. His approach to magic is to take the path of least resistance. An approach that has made him far more adept at healing than his siblings. His magic looks like white tendrils reaching outward. When he casts a spell on someone it feels tingly, prickly but not unpleasant.
Aditsan is the strongest spell caster of the trio. Their approach to magic is methodical and sometimes OCD. Given enough time and the proper supplies they can cast most spells. Their allied element is earth because it is steadfast. They excel in casting enchantments, animation, dispelling magic and curses/dark magic. Aditsan has a heavily enchanted book that they use to record every spell, ritual, fact, story, recipe and event they’ve come across experienced or read about. They prefer using magic circles to cast but will take advantage of the magic ruin tattoos on their hands if they need too. Their biggest weakness is that they struggle to cast without their hands or a circle. They're so caught up in the order of how it should be they they panic when they have to cast spells without any warning. Aditsan’s magic looks golden-green sparkly, and very runic, circular or patterned. When cast on someone feel warm and rhythmic often like a heartbeat.
The reason why Adi is skilled in and curses dark magic is a secret.

This fic serves no real purpose other than world building. I know it's flawed but I tried?
Tawa’s 15 and spent all day throwing a fit because he wanted to stay in town with a girl he likes. The trio are 7. It’s written more in the perspective of their mother. T.W. infant abandonment. Aditsan’s was abandoned by their birth mother who thought they had died. Their name is a result of how her adoptive parents found them. It isn’t described in detail though.
Orenda circled the area around their small caravan. Her sepia eyes scanning for danger once they stop for the night. Finding no immediate threat, she set about her nightly routine. Unfastening the leather straps of her steel gauntlets, she removed them and tucked them away in her sash.
Orenda knelt down methodically carving circular patterns into the cold, damp mud before laying down a barrier. She repeated the process several times. Putting more magic circles down a few footsteps away from one another, for a total of twenty interconnected wards and warnings. With the last spell cast, a wave of exhaustion fell upon her.
Rounding back towards the camp she watched Alaric see to their horses brushing their thickening spring coats down for the night. He sang each one their own made up song as he went. A ridiculous and secretly adorable behaviour which had been taken up by their children.
Tawa lazily put up the tents while Nascha, Elsu and Aditsan fought over whose turn it is to start the campfire.
Orenda shook her head clicking her tongue loudly enough to echo through the brisk spring night. “Such lazy children, might as well trade them in for an ox. And kill the ox." Her normal detached tone had only the slightest hint of disapproval something only her family would be able to pick up on.
“And kill the ox.” Tawa mimicked with a cracking voice. His overgrown azure hair whipped about flying into his light brown eyes as he flopped his head around continuing to parody everything she said today.
“Is there a reason why your version of me does not have neckbones? Or have you decided bones are just as optional as haircuts?” She gave her teenage son a sharp disapproving glare. Feelings of annoyance bubble to the surface which she cut short. Pulling the annoyed energy close to her chest she tempered it with love for her son until it fizzled out.
Tawa finished pitching the last tent, he crawled inside grumbling to himself. Orenda can't recall being this difficult as a teenager. Perhaps it was the difference in how she was raised?
She noticed the trio were continuing to try futilely to resolve the matter with a three way bout of rock, paper, scissors which of course kept on ending in a tie where everyone lost.
“That only works if you take turns.”She informed them, placing her spear next to the freshly dug fire pit. Orenda waved her hand over the firewood summoning the fire herself.
“This way is funner! It also got you to light the fire.” Elsu grinned.
“What should I do with such lazy, rotten children?” Orenda asked.
“Love us!” Elsu bellowed with a smile. He ran up throwing his weight full force at her. Giving her a hug that felt like a poorly attempted tackle.
A small, easy to miss smile graced her own lips in return.“Yes, well I suppose I am stuck with you.” Orenda ruffled his bright blue-green hair before he bounded away.
Nascha called out to them loudly. “Elsu, Adi let's play marbles!”
Orenda’s eyes wandered towards her husband. Alaric’s golden hair, pink eyes and pale skin still looked stunning by the firelight. She felt a surge of love and attraction that she struggled to control the outward flow of; She'd gone too long without eating to use this much magic and maintain full control her aura.
Alaric handed her her dried figs and a generous chunk of a white smoked cheese, wordlessly with a knowing smile. She devoured the food with gusto as the trio played with their new clay marbles.
Aditsan lost the first round to Elsu quickly growing bored of watching her brothers she shuffled over to them. She almost tripped into the fire only to be swiftly caught by Alaric before she even fully registered that Aditsan had started to fall. “Adi!” He shouted as he caught her.
“Baby girl you're not hurt anywhere are you?!” Alaric screeched with unbridled panic.
“Dad I'm fine.” Aditsan answered him calmly.
Alaric ignored Aditsan’s assurance and moved with a panicked haste as he checks Aditsan for burns and singed clothes. He sighed looking relieved, before he stood up with her in his arms hugging her tightly as he spun around. “Sweetie you need to be more careful! If something bad happened to my perfect little girl I don't know what I would do!”
Aditsan squirmed and called out to her. “Mom! Dad's killing me with hugs!”
“Sit down. Before your idiotic flailing since both of you into the campfire.” Orenda barked out sternly.
Alaric gave her a pouting upset look, as if to say you never let me spin-hug the children. Still the daft man had enough of a brain to sit down next to her with Aditsan quickly settling into his lap with a yawn.
Orenda untied the string keeping her her long azurite tied securely. Aditsan’s warm golden eyes watch her, thinking of what to say she purses her lips together. “Mom I have a question.” she announced at last.
“You usually do Aditsan.” Orenda replied as she brushed her fingers through her hair checking for tangles. She twisted her hair around her finger then tied it into a loose bun that she preferred to sleep in.
“Mom what do our names mean? The toy merchant asked me what my name meant, but I didn't know.” “Aditsan, your name means one who listens. When we were looking for you in that trash heap; I reached out with my magic and you listened to me and cried out just as I asked.”
“Nascha was named after a dear friend of mine. Nascha means owl. I didn't have a name picked out for Elsu at first. Two days of labor tends to tire you out. So your father was calling Elsu Reinholt. Which is just an awful name. I chose Elsu which means falcon. Because you can't have just one noble bird in a set of two.”
Orenda points towards the direction of Tawa's tent as she spoke. “Tawa means sun, he's named after my father.”
“How come we aren't named normal names! Like aunt Marjoram and uncle Roderic or dad?!” Nascha shouted. There had been spike in Nascha’s uncontrolled aura but the has mistakenly assumed it was from him losing his game.
“Nascha is a very common name. As is Elsu. Aditsan is a bit uncommon, but I have met both men and women by that name.”She spoke matter-of-factly which seemed to irk him further.
“Where? Where are these normal names mom? Nowhere! We've been dragged all over the world!” The irritation that radiated off of Nascha was building into something that would soon cause Elsu and Aditsan to become just as upset.
Nascha needed to learn to control his emotional aura. Orenda reached out meeting his aura with her own overriding the unstable energy with a feeling of calm.
“Far away, there was a country with fertile fields and lush forests hidden in the mountains. One day an old farmer dug into the earth and noticed it was rich with silver, gold and gems. It became a prosperous place filled with the most beautiful buildings you have ever seen.” Orenda spoke beginning to tell them a story.
“Can we go there next?” Elsu asked excitedly, filled with hope with the other two looking just as hopeful.
Orenda shook her head with a brief penitive on her face, as she recalled the agonous curse. She chased those thoughts awake quickly then continued to speak.
“The land was so rich that it changed the very people living there. At first everyone was happy, no one went hungry…. But soon luxuries were all the leaders cared for. So the peasants rose up killing every rich person and leader they found! But then, everyone was an idiot and wanted to be rich. Since no one wanted to farm or work the mines and repair the buildings everyone starved to death and the country ceased to exist. The end.”
“But you're not dead mom. So there has to be other survivors too right?” Aditsan queried.
“I am dead. I have been dead the whole time. I've just been putting off telling you I'm a ghost.” Orenda joked in typical deadpanned fashion.
“Quit being silly mom it's time to be serious.” Aditsan tried very hard to scold her before she continued with exuberance. “If you survived then some of your family did too. We should go an-”
Alaric called to them in his singsong-go-to-bed-tone. “Go on my babies off to bed, we have to get back on the road by dawn.”
The trio begrudgingly went to bed, leaving their parents alone by the fire.
“Orenda, wouldn't it just be easier to tell them the truth about why you can't return? They're old enough to understand.”Alaric asked.
Orenda shook her head, chasing of the memories of the past before she spoke. “No, the past is best left buried.”
(fair warning this is the 11th rewrite. Sleeping in the same bed with the apprentice being so head over heels and knowing anytime they cross the line and go back to what they had it destroys them. No wonder Asra wonders off all the time.)
Red clovers were in season, one of Adi’s favorites for potions and incense. Elsu led them into a small forest clearing where he’d gathered clovers in the past. They gathered clovers under the full moon.
Growing bored gathering Asra stood stretching with a yawn. “The sun’s going to rise soon. Why don’t we take a break and watch the sunrise?”
Elsu smiled brushing his hands on the side of his shirt. “Sure, we can eat some breakfast too.” He rummaged around in his patchwork bag producing a carefully wrapped hand pie. He unwrapped it the held it loosely in his right hand as he cast a food warming spell with his left. Elsu handed it to Asra, then flopped onto the ground facing east as he dug further into his pack.
Elsu pulled out another hand pie and a waterskin, looking far to triumphant about the fact he found thing in his bag that he was looking for. He quickly peeled the hand pie out of it’s cloth taking a bite of it. Either far too hungry or lazy to bother to warm his own. Knowing him, Asra would bet it was a mix of both.
Asra sat next to Elsu crossing their legs, watching the sun’s first glowing rays give the horizon golden hues. Asra took a bite of the hand pie the filling chopped iguana and vegetables with a curried sauce surprised them. It was a very welcome, delicious, surprise but nothing Adi would have ever made. “I thought Adi made something. Where did these come from?” Asra questioned
Elsu shyly glanced at Asra his cheeks turning slightly pink. “So a friend of mine, hunts sea iguana and his husband makes these and sells them at market. I know it’s not skink. But, I thought you’d really like it. I wanted it to be a surprise…. So I guess I lied? Sorry. Do you like it?”
Asra watched him blush further under their quiet scrutiny before they laughed mirthfully their violet eyes sparkling with amusement. “It’s very good thank you.”
Elsu glared at Asra pouting slightly which caused Asra’s smile to widen. His reactions were just too cute. “You look too cute when you get flustered. I can’t pass up an opportunity to make you blush.”
Elsu took another bite looking at Asra like he was planning something. He swallowed the bite following it with a long drink of water before he spoke. “I can understand the temptation. You’re more than just cute when you blush Asra. That shade of pink I see when you blush is one of my favorite colors. Because I’ve only seen it on the most beautiful person I’ve ever known.”
Asra’s cheeks were burning they searched for a reply but no words that came to his mind. Asra reached for Elsu’s free hand, Asra tracing patterns on the back of his hand.
The birds started their morning songs as dark star lit skies gave way to vivid oranges and pale greens. By the time they both finished their breakfast the sun had rose higher and stars had vanished.
Asra leaned on Elsu resting their head on his arm. “We should start heading back. But it’s so nice here.”
“We don’t have to hurry back home, If you’re tired take a nap.” Elsu replied warmly.
“We could take a nap. But you’re not tired yet, are you?” Asra hummed moving closer, running fingers through his verdigri hair.
Elsu turned and bent down giving Asra a kiss on the top of their head. “You can use me as a pillow. I don’t mind when you do.”
Asra tugged his verdigri hair pulling the taller man into a passionate kiss. Elsu responded instantly mirroring Asra’s movement. Asra pushed Elsu’s forcing him on his back.Asra followed him, taking control of their kiss. Elsu wrapped his hands around Asra’s back, pulling them close together.
Asra bit Elsu’s bottom lip before he broke their kiss for air. He pulled away licking his lips.
Asra purred, looking at those dark brown eyes filled with want. “What if I want to use you another way?”
Elsu rolled his eyes before he kissed Asra’s neck nipping lightly as he reached down between them grasping Asra’s length in his hand. He stroked Asra slowly through the fabric of their pants. “Love, you could have just said you wanted to fuck in the beginning.”
Asra moaned quietly at the feeling. As nice as it was, Asra had other more pleasurable ideas in mind. Asra pulled Elsu’s hand away, pressing a kiss on his palm. Asra took one of Elsu’s fingers into their mouth. They rolled the digit on their tongue causing Elsu to growl.
Asra's free hand pushed up Elsu’s shirt slightly; They slowly ran their hand over the newly exposed dark copper skin, tracing the muscles underneath.
Asra took mouth away from Elsu finger with a wet pop, then let go of his hand. Theyu slowly pushed the shirt up further inch by inch running their hands over his abs and chest as they went. “Will you be patient for me?”
Elsu smirked giving Asra a smug look as he spoke in a cocky tone. “Thought we established last night I have more patience than you.”
Asra tugged Elsu’s azure trousers down past his hips looking for one of the few marks Elsu didn't use magic to get rid of. They kissed the love bite they left last night and Elsu’s hip bone, causing him to gasp and moan. Asra smiled against the bruised skin sucking on it harder. Asra couldn't resist biting the sensitive marked skin.
Elsu moaned loudly, then covered his mouth in attempt muffle is voice.
“We're just out in the forest. You don't have to be quiet.” Asra teased.
Asra was startled awake by violent thrashing and screaming. Even if he can’t remember, he still has the same kind of nightmares he used to.
“Elsu, wake up. Elsu you need to wake up.” Asra called softly as they gingerly taking hold of his thrashing arms.
Elsu woke up with a gasp for air his whole body shaking. Immediately clinging to Asra like he’s going to drown if he let go. Asra holds him tightly rubbing his back in small circles until he started to calm down.
“‘M sorry I keep on waking you up like this master.” Elsu apologized letting go of Asra to sat up on the bed. He looked at the curtains, tears welling up in his dark brown eyes. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Asra brushed away his tears leaning forwards before they could stop themselves. Barely catching it before they kissed his forehead like they used to. It's been years but Asra still almost slips and hates themselves for it. One mistake could send him spiraling again back into that catatonic state.
“Dreams are odd things, sometimes you remember things from your past you’ve forgotten.” Or things you tried so hard to stop thinking of… Like a lover who was playful and caring, how that lover kissed, and how he moaned when he was entered. A man who was afraid of drowning who still had vivid nightmares; but jumped in the ocean to save someone who fell in.
A man so close but forever out of reach.
Asra took a deep breath pushing feelings, those memories away. “I’ll go make us some chamomile tea.”
A free spirited, mischievous, kind hearted apprentice. Elsu’s sunny disposition hides a deep depression about his missing memories. He hates wasting food, he also isn't picky and will eat just about anything. Playful, adventurous, curious and laid back. His disposition masks both his altruistic and vindictive sides.
