Roses Will Show Their Thorns || Derek, Cora, Erica
Derek sat on his bed, his head in his hands. He didn't know how to feel, he didn't know what to think. His head pounded with the drumming of a headache, and the pounding seemed to vibrate off of his whole body. His body plummeted through what seemed to be thousands of emotions at once. Sadness, surprise, nervousness, disappointment but when it boiled down to one solid emotion, it was anger that he felt. Cora was back. She'd never been gone in the first place, he supposed. Cora was back, he knew, and she didn't reach out to him. She didn't send him one word of her condition. For six years, he walked around with the dead weight of her death, along with all of his other family members. He thought them all dead.
But it turned out to not be so, because Cora was here, in Toronto. And he was to pick her up, so she could stay with him. When Erica asked what had been bothering him, he merely brushed it off, just saying his sister was in town. What he didn't say, was that his all of his family had burned to death in a house fire some odd years ago, and he thought them all to be dead. He didn't say how Cora never burned in that fire, but ignored his existence for six whole years, and decided now would be a good time to get in contact. He didn't say how angry he was. Or how hurt.
Derek shook his head to clear his thoughts, he knew he had to pull himself together. He was never one to fall apart, never. And he couldn't be one to fall apart now, and now especially. He stood from his bed with a heavy sigh, grabbed his jacket and sunglasses, and walked out of his room. "We're going to pick my sister up." he told Erica, passing her in the living room as he walked out of the door. He left it open behind him, knowing Erica would follow suit. Cora'd given him her cellphone number, and the place where she currently resided.
He rode there with Erica in silence, not bothering to answer any questions she had. When they arrived in his Camaro, he sent Cora a text saying so, and tried desperately to push down the bubble of emotions and disgust that floated in his stomach.

Despite Derek telling Erica not to touch his car, he looked out of the window and it was gone. He clenched his jaw and sat himself on their living room couch with his laptop to wait for her return. He was pissed that she took his car, nobody was allowed to even think about touching his car without his permission. And he definitely did not give Erica his permission. His car was his baby, and he wasn't afraid to tell people that either. His Camaro was not allowed to get scraped, scratched, touched, dusty, or dirty in the least bit and if Erica came back with even as much as an ounce of any of those, she'd be in much deeper shit than she already was.
When she arrived back, Derek grabbed her by her shirt and pushed her against the wall, his fury evident. "Don't you ever fucking touch my car again, I don't care what you need it for, you got that?" he said, each word rung in staccato.

The previous night, Erica had been elusively indubitably drunk. Which, of course, led to the steam works of Derek Hale. He didn't know much about epilepsy but what he did know was that if drinking, it was supposed to be limited. Very limited. But of course, leave it up to Erica to surpass all and any rules of survival.
Yes, he was fully aware of the fact that she was merely a teenager, which only added to the fuel. Before they moved in together, before he even involved himself with her, he asked her a simply question. "Can you handle this?" Typically, she said she could, and as time went by she had proven that to Derek. Derek, however, was in charge, and had told her countless times that had she slip up in a serious manner, he would send her off with her father. He knew her relationship with her father, but he also knew he wasn't Erica's guardian. He wasn't her father, he brother, her uncle, nothing. He was her friend, and she wasn't his responsibility. They'd been into arguments, fights, disagreements, he'd dealt with her rebellious era. But this? This was something completely different, Derek knew. He also knew that Erica knew. She was gambling with her life, and that was something much more serious than anything they'd been involved in before.
Isaac brought her home a few hours after her incessant rendezvous, which he thanked him for. Isaac, at times, could be Derek's backbone, and he greatly appreciated that. At the time, he was helping Isaac move into Erica and Derek's shared flat, an agreement they'd made.
Him and Isaac slid Erica into bed and Derek retreated to his room, he was tired himself.
Today, however, he wasn't tired. He was energized and busied himself with preparing things Isaac's new room, which was to be the guest room. He hardly looked Erica's way when she came out into the living room and offered a small greeting to him.
@Erica
Oh, could it? That makes me happy.
