YES I WOULD FUCKING LIKE TRANS GABRIELLE
or should trans people should never get full, emacipated representation good bad and ugly?
fuck you very much
DUMBASS
gtfo
listen if you’re not capable of having an actual civil discussion about this with nuance and idk. rational thought then maybe it’s time to step away from the phone and do something else.
what i did not say: all trans representation in media should be good representation and if a trans character is not ontologically good they should not exist
what i did say (which i will rephrase): we don’t know where the show is going. this is a show that plays with the unreliability of memories and trauma’s effect on the memory and therefore portrays events and people unreliably. that’s like, the show’s whole thing, man. so let’s wait and see. and if it turns out that changing gabrielle(a)’s character to make her indisputably cis was a choice rj + co made deliberately, then that’s a change that i, a trans person, can live with. because i, a trans person, am afraid of real world violence and legislation that is founded on the false premise of trans people being sexually violent, which can and is furthered by art and propaganda every day, and i don’t need a reminder of how i and my community are viewed by the majority of society.
EDIT: i appreciate the insight that everyone is providing, specifically those who have read the books. i am not going to keep talking about this only because i have not finished reading the books and i therefore cannot contribute to the conversation in good faith. i honestly should have kept my mouth shut to begin with, but i was under the impression that i understood the situation at the time. i did not. i’m going to finish reading the books before i talk about this again.
