Omg we need Valentines day fanart!!!!
So was rambling on while driving and had a thought, there’s a lot of parallels between Crowe and Embre; and it really shows when Conn and Embre interact. While it may very much be due to nothing but them being father and son, do feel that Crowe directly caused Embre to be behave in such manors(broken legs aside). Embre has a cold and collected personality just like Crowe; he’ll poke fun at/mock people through sarcastic comments (just look at the letters between him and Rowan.”You getting low on patience? Who would have guessed.”) Which very much so contrasts his cousins more lively and far less collected personality (he’ll start yelling over an argument and glares at people when they do something he doesn’t like a lot.) Also he shares the same method of dealing with those seen as a threat as Crowe; to kill them. Connwaer mentions about how Crowe attempted to raise him to be Underlord until he ran away, and Embre was being raised in what was probably a similair manor until Crowe deemed him as not good enough. But specific time frames are never given, and it may have played out so Embre was being brought up under Crowe for longer than Conn thus giving a reason for more of Crowe being reflected in Embre than Conn. While Embre is very different from his father, you certainly see a lot of what was probably Crowe’s influence on him, and am really really curious just how much more time was needed to make him just like Crowe. Or better yet, how close or far was Conn from ending up in the same boat as Embre, or even worse off? What would have happened to Wellmet and what would have what was supposed to happen look like if Conn had never managed to escape or was completely trained by Crowe; and what would this kid that is always putting the well being of the magics before his own and is constantly trying to help people despite them hurting him (Trying to save Jaggus after being starved and mentally tormented, or trying to understand Preston the same day as getting punched in the face by him) if that were the case.
