Embryonic won the youth culture award on Saturday May 11, 1991 and got a 5000 kr bursary towards recording an album. In the band along with Ihsahn and Samoth were Torbjørn Akkerhaugen and Vidar Våer.

some translation of the newspapers:

Embryonic is the name of the band that won the Youth Culture Award. No one was happier about it than Jon Jarle Haugen. He knows the guys and knows that they are serious and hard-working musicians. Even though they are only 15-16 years old [...] The guys in Embryonic play "basic". That is to say, it's raw, tough music. A form that doesn't give you the big gigs and the big salaries, but that has the basics in it. I think it was nice that they won the Youth Culture Award, and that in a village with traditions in completely different types of music.

There they stood, two of the young guys in Embryonic, with their long hair and youthful insecurity. There are four of them in the band, but Tomas Haugen and Vegard Tveitan were the band's ambassadors on Saturday. They didn't quite know how to hold the bouquets of flowers, but the check would come in handy.

A single contract has also been signed with Embryonic from Notodden.

they never ended up pressing the Embryonic LP i believe but they did release their demo tape a year before in 1990
