Well that's that. The only thing left is to pick up the keys on the 26th and I can begin to call #08-01 Emerald Gardens my home. About an hour ago the scans of our lease, signed by our land lord, showed up in my email account. Tomorrow the physical copy will be in my hands.
Not much to tell today. My copy of A Memory of Light showed up -- the last book in the Wheel of Time series -- and I began reading it on my commute. It's not the easiest read. Not because the language is difficult, but rather because it's almost an 1000 page tome and it's a hardcover. Hardly ideal for reading on the MRT. I'm only about 50 pages in and it's already awesome. This is where you look at me and shout "nerd!"
I also changed my money for my upcoming travels with my parents. Only two countries, but I'm having to deal with 3 currencies -- $100USD to cover visas and other odds and ends, $3080HKD, which is only about half of what I've set aside for Hong Kong, but I want to see how far I can stretch things, and 5 670 000 VND. Even though it's Dong, its still nice to be a multi-millionaire every now and then.

Orchard felt really sterile on my walk home tonight. It's always felt relatively commercial, but tonight it really weighed on me. Probably because I'd just come from my first condo viewing.
I started off the day only having one confirmed viewing set up for the weekend. That all changed after a bit of hard work over lunch though. By the time I left the studio -- on my way to my first viewing with Bryan -- I'd set up 5 confirmed viewings with a 6th one pending confirmation.
The first place we looked at was on the 8th floor of the Emerald Gardens in China Town. If I didn't already have other places lined up, I would have made an offer then and there. I loved the place. It reminded me of my condo back in Toronto, so it instantly felt like home. With the windows open there was a lovely cross breeze, it had plenty of room for both of us, a pool, full gym, and -- here's what really made it feel like home for me -- it opened up onto a street that was alive. There were cafes, bars, pretty women and, as icing on the cake, it was just down the street from a wine bar. Bryan and I stopped by afterwards to check it out, and the wine was actually reasonably priced. Glasses started at S$7.
That's not to say the place didn't have it's drawbacks. It's older, the water pressure is somewhat weak, the range and hood seriously need to be replaced and it could use a new coat of paint. It's also S$100 a month above our high end, so if we put an offer down for it, bargaining will be involved. That being said, I could find the wiggle room in my budget if it came down to it.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
