“Of course,” he repeated, to reassure the both of them. “No matter what, I don’t think Harry’ll be able to grow up without seeing me around.”

"That is still the plan, I mean when he finds out he is a wizard and goes to Hogwarts. Remus you're part of the order"

“Right…” That might take some work, but this was only if something happened to Sirius, and nothing would happen to Sirius that would be completely ridiculous. Completely ridiculous, though it made his stomach drop. “Of course, Lily, you know I’ll look after him…”

"If we die.. if something happens to Sirius.. I want you to watch over Harry for us"

“What?” That wasn’t the plan, had they changed something? “I thought he was to go to your sister? So he’d be safe, with the muggles?”

He hesitated for a moment, but of course he’d help. These were his best friends.

“I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe, Lily.”

“Oh come now, Lily. Sirius, Sirius Black, is your you-know-what. I can’t think of a better person for the job.” And oh, how he’s learn to regret those words.

“I know,” he urged, keeping Lily calm had been…a challenge. “And you’ve got to believe me, the order is going to do everything in our power to keep him safe, even if that means putting the three of you into hiding.”
