A Word on Guard RP
Alright, so I’ve been doing guard rp for awhile now (since August 13th, 2017) and let me tell you, the best memories aren’t the big guard vs criminal events in graveyards, they’re not the shootings that the guards force to a halt, they’re not the “FREEZE” moments when the guard stops an attempted murder, they’re the small moments or off the wall stories I get to tell later.
Just today, a pandaren bodyguard learned that his boss was hurting a child, so he says “You go apologize to the guards RIGHT NOW.” The guy goes “I’m sorry....” and the bodyguard goes “LIKE YOU MEAN IT” until the guy who hurt the child is yelling that he’s sorry off the top of his lungs, pissed.
My whole guild was laughing so hard at that, it made the kidnapping threat just 30 minutes earlier fade away and eased tension.
And though it’s not my story, passing on the legend of the man who escaped the stocks by shoving a hearthstone up his ass is no doubt one of the best stories that’s ever transpired through guard rp.
Sometimes the best RP that comes from my guards is no rp at all. Just the other night, I witnessed a stabbing, and they didn’t consent to guard rp, so my guard emoted “I’m not going to do my job for some reason, have a nice night, the clinic is right over there if y’all stab each other too much” and we were all laughing.
People have told me over and over again that guard rp is trash, but it’s really not. As long as you treat people right, RP almost always becomes a thing to remember, and many times you come away with some stories that will be told for longer than you’d have imagined.
