“Brilliant name for a band, although disappointingly, they sing neither about Bombay nor Bicycles in this, their 2009 debut album. . I love the opening, with its wash of guitars on the instrumental intro Emergency Contraception Blues, which runs straight into Lamplight and Jack Steadman’s unusual (distinctive/unpleasant?) voice. There’s nothing radically new or different on here, it’s a little bit Interpol, a little bit Bloc Party, but its a pleasant indie guitar noise. . Always Like This, one of the highlights, is very Vampire Weekend, all choppy guitars and afro-beat rhythms. The VW’s debut being released earlier the same year, they were clearly an influence on many bands at the time. But what’s most remarkable about this album, is that they were all in their teens when it recorded and released. They left school in June 2008 and were in the recording studio with a record deal by the end of that year...” .
