I guess that entirely depends on the look your giving him. For Leon I feel like a yellow fading into orange would do good considering his hair. In the end, I don't think many people would care about the colour of the eyes, but that's just me. Complementary colours is what I suggested, but you can also try colours that mix well with red too. Wether it be to turn attention away or too something, every detail counts is what I say.
Certain colours give off certain emotions, and shape does that as well. If you want a bold look, sharp edges and big shapes are the key. But if your looking for a more simple look, then round edges and small shapes work best. The shape of what your going for is important, I believe.
That makes a lot of sense. I should havd figured hair colour would matter more than eye colour. The only reason I wanted to focus on the eye colour as well is because the character is learning about eye liner and is therefore so close to his face that he's caught up in the blue eyes. Thats when the cogs start whirring and the whole picture comes together.
Yes big and bold is what I was going for. So instead of the subtle, delicate shapes and colours, its more like a painting on/around the eye. Does that make sense?
I'll take your advice though - maybe stick with greens and yellows or maybe black/reds. Maybe the eye colour is the initial lure but then as they step back and look at his face entirely, they decide on the hair since its the brighter colour. Or maybe they just want the picture being his eye rather than a wider look at his face...hmm...
