my beloved rosie passed away unexpectedly on friday and my apartment feels so empty without her. i didn't realize just how much i talked to her or acknowledged her throughout the day. even things like i'm sleepy and i need to take a nap, i would always convince myself it was a good idea because it meant i could cuddle with rosie. anytime i open the fridge, i would make eye contact with her and give her some new veggie. my fridge is so glaringly empty. i tried rearranging it so her shelf -- the largest, middle shelf -- has something on it, but it just looks wrong. i moved her stuff out and tried to rearrange so my room would feel less like it was missing something, but it somehow feels more obvious.

everyone who knows me knows how much i loved her, but i didn't realize how much her not being here makes me feel disoriented and strange and hollow
