❣: Describe a way that will earn affection (whether platonic or romantic) from them. [ since Em needs all the help she can get with Clem ]

Ohh crikey.
Respect. I think that’s important in any sort of relationship with him at all, to be honest, as well as being genuine. But the most essential? I’d say loyalty. All of his friendships ( at least the ones he doesn’t obtain for political/strategic advancement ) place loyalty down as a fundamental factor, and I think this reflects in his way of thinking too. If someone cannot be loyal to a country, person or promise which they’ve vowed to serve or remain true to, he sees no point in befriending them. He’s been stabbed in the back too many times not to think this way. He may be selective himself; picking and choosing those whom he’ll pledge his loyalty to, but the guarantee is that one you have his loyalty, it is there to stay. Unless you’re a fucking asshole and give him an unforgivable reason to reject you as a friend.
I think though that his main source of hatred (and it is hatred, lbr) towards Émilie — obvs momentarily disregarding the fact that she’s actually scarred him for life — lies in his belief in loyalty. His distrust of her runs so deep because of what happened between her and Vlad, and without going into too much depth, I think he took SEVERE offence on Constance’s behalf at her becoming ’second best’ to a woman he quietly considers a whore. The fact that Émilie seems unapologetic for her actions during that time just adds insult to injury as far as he’s concerned.
۞: Are there any inner demons they can never seem to get rid of? What are they?

Clement has many inner demons, and I think most of them have grown from little insecurities to become major factors that affect his every day decision making. I’d say one of the biggest was appearing weak; growing up in an environment where his siblings were far more achieved than him at an earlier age in their lives ( being the only one of them to take an active role in the French court, he was often accused of taking the ‘easy route’, given that his family had a largely traditional military conscription history. ) I think that’s what influences every ( frequent ) display of power — he strives to uphold an unbreakable resolve, and whilst it’s helped him a lot throughout his life, it’s also turned him into a weapon in the eyes of many as opposed to a living breathing human being — and that’s another inner demon of his, because in the back of his mind he’s always worried that his dehumanised reputation among the majority of nobles in many courts around the world will mean his is deemed dispensable. This was proven when the ransom for his release from rebel captivity was refused, and I think that’s one of the major things that has changed his personality irreversibly; betrayal, and nurtured another demon — an extreme level of mistrust towards absolutely everyone. He’s become both accustomed to and supportive of his own self-destructive mindset, which is dangerous for anyone, but especially for someone like him.
♥ : Name one thing about the way their emotions work that they despise.
Whenever Peter gets genuinely attached to someone, he’ll let his feelings towards them, whatever they may be, blind him to logic and reality. He considers putting someone else before himself to be a great downfall.
