Soundscapes has been a monthly live music night since 2016. Soundscapes #42 was slated for 2nd April 2020, but that night and the next bunch couldn't go ahead. Now (for the time being) Soundscapes is a monthly release of new music works online, commissioned from artists from the Canberra region. It's still three acts/sets, but BYO drink breaks and dorky banter. The gig price was $10, however this release is (boldly? naively?) pay-what-you-can. There are also Soundscapes stickers for sale. The proceeds go towards the commissions.

Soundscapes is a monthly music night showcasing acts somewhere in the alternative / experimental / sound art / other / uncategorised zones. Our featured acts for March:

DFFDL (Melbourne) is the ambient drone project of sound artist Anthony Cooley. Through static drones, floating layers of hiss and glacially slow ambience, they create an undeveloped snapshot of a feeling and let the listener develop the details inside of it.

Em Fishpool experimental electronic / neo-classical

Ben Marston is one of Canberra’s most in-demand jazz trumpeters. He performs in numerous local groups including an acclaimed duo with Hugh Barrett. His solo work incorporates laptop and electronics, informed by his study with Norwegian live remix pioneer Jan Bang.
