Language and Logograph
This photo was taken this past weekend when I was working on a Chinese assignment that focused on reading comprehension, grammar structures, and writing. Language classes of all types often take up a large portion of time and effort especially in the beginning and intermediate stages of learning that particular language. With that being said, my Chinese class assigns daily homework, daily listening comprehension quizzes, and bi-weekly tests. This not only ensures that each student will devote a considerable portion of time to effectively learning the language on a daily basis but also challenges students at the same time. Mandarin Chinese has prided itself in its extensive history as it has been passed down and transmitted through a tremendous period of time. Adding onto that, it is a language form that is solely based on sets of symbols that convey different meanings through a form of art. An interesting aspect to note is that in the written language, there are various “radicals” that indicate and relate the particular word to a certain topics.
