↳ First of all thank you for reading as always and thank you for the nice comment ☺️ I, as most other writers seriously doubt myself and my works so it’s really nice to wake up to this today especially considering I write at random moments and nothing is edited like ever 😅 I’m glad you enjoyed the realism of this fic because the fact is we don’t live in a perfect world and as such fat phobia is something deeply ingrained into our minds. And it’s because all types of media portray it as something bad so much so that no one thinks to reprimand children when they poke fun at something that we can’t control, because it’s chalked up as just “kids being kids” and those years I believe are the most crucial for children. I myself as part of the bigger body community have gone through such things and still struggle everyday with my self esteem and body positivity so I wanted to write an MC that looks like me and feels like I do sometimes. But also has that soft reassurance that they are loved and they are beautiful, because it’s something we all need. They say write what you know and I usually pull from my own experiences so I think that’s why her feelings are relatable because I did/do still feel this way. I do plan on writing more for my beautiful chubby readers because we need more positive representation in the writing community cause as you said I’m also tired of small petite and perfect MC’s. As I said before I’m planning on writing more chubby MC’s, maybe even tall MC’s since I’m about average height at 5’4 and I often seen the mc represented as someone way smaller than I am height and weight wise so hopefully it’ll be a comfort for me and for others. So again thank you I’m glad you enjoyed this, I hope you have a great day😊

↳ First off hello this will be kinda long sorry, secondly I can totally agree with you, there is a scarcity of fics that cater to those of us who are not made to fit into societies idea of beauty. It’s something I have long since noticed and have tried to change in my own style of writing. I don’t specify that my mcs are chubby of thin or anything really so it’s all up to interpretation. Even more rare is a fic in which the mc is okay enough to understand that she’s beautiful but still has those moments where it’s questioned and her partner is there to softly remind them that they really do love/care about them and don’t grow tired of reminding them.

I’ve seen so many fics where the mc is ‘fixed’ by the affection that they receive from their partner. Which we know isn’t always true, this isn’t something you can just get rid of in the blink of an eye and it’s why I wanted to show that Yoongi understood sometimes she didn’t feel okay with the way she looked and didn’t push her to believe she was beautiful when that little ugly voice came in to tell her she wasn’t. It’s why he lets her take the lead when she touches him, not the dirty kind either.

I’ve had this conversation with a writer friend about how reader inserts are generally written for thin/skinner mc’s and light skinned mc’s whereas POC & chubby people are left out which again is something I’m trying to change in my writing so as to make them more inclusive to those who are reading and enjoying the content. I do plan on writing more fics with chubby readers because although I don’t really think of the mc as myself it’s always nice to see a good fic with an mc that looks like me. ❀ Thank you for such a lovely response to my comment, I really appreciate it. Just as I appreciate your fic which offered some sense of connection for myself. It honestly annoys me when I see reader insert fics that already have a description for the reader character, because then it just.... it cuts off the whole general intention of a reader insert -- it alienates a massive part of the audience. There's plenty of ways to go about reader insert stories while avoiding specific details about the character. At the same time -- I also 100% agree the importance of specifically catering to the POC audience. I again, in this particular case, appreciate the general idea of a chubby reader who still has her off days AND the lack of Yoongi trying to like... force this idea in her head that she is beautiful. I appreciate the more gentle approach, the more gentle assurance from his end he loves her for her.

↳ thank you again for commenting, it’s taken me a bit to think about how I’d like to reply to this one. I think as a woman of a bigger body type and as a POC it’s only natural to want to see ourselves represented in things we enjoy. So I want that to be something people can find in my writing and on my blog/account but I also want them to find comfort in the things I write because we all need a pick me up sometimes, we need soft and sweet and even though I have a bit of a mean streak I LOVE soft and sweet. It’s why I write so many fics with loved up characters, but not the blind I just love them kind either. I know there are other writers that try to cater to those of us who don’t fit into the typical mold but and sometimes it just misses. Which is fine, but I think the problem is that most writers write for themselves first and then the audience which can result in set character traits. I for one am a light shade of brown so it’s easily visible when I sunburn/bruise, but that isn’t the same for some of my richer brown toned POC. Which again I’m trying to change because as such I write from my own experiences sometimes and it’s why I included things that I like but I know not all would. Again as for Yoongi’s gentle reassurance that’s what we need sometimes and yoongi is a comfort for me and I would like to think he’d comfort someone who ever mentioned anything about disliking themselves because of dumb things such as weight and social beauty standards.
