Cora Pearl (Emma Crouch) : Why she kicks ass

She was the most famous courtesan in Paris. She may not have been the most conventional beauty, but she charmed men with her daring sexuality, enviable body, wit and lust for life. 

There are many stories about Cora: it has been told she used to bathe in expensive champagne, once had herself served naked on a silver plate at a fancy dinner and dyed her hair red, pink and golden - and her dog’s hair to match hers.

During her years at the all female French convent school she attended, she had engaged in numerous same-sex relationships.  After her abrupt initiation into heterosexual sex, however, she did not return to her grandmother's home, nor go back to her mother, but rented a room for herself.

View Tube Grow runs as part of View Tube's year round programme, artist Lisa Cheung has created Summer Palace, raised allotment bed sculptures making up a sustainable community garden, managed by volunteers and providing food for the View Tube's Container Cafe and themselves.

The project was supported by Marks & Spencer, Groundwork London, the London Wildlife Trust, the Olympic Delivery Authority, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Thames Water and Bike Works.

View Tube is a community and education venue with views over the London 2012 Olympic Park. It runs a thriving arts programme, cafe and bike hire and is located on the Greenway next to the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Summer Palace was part of View Tube Grow and the View Tube Art programme.

Bow Bells Ring is a temporary installation by East London artist Colin Priest, comprising 100 bicycle bells situated at critical experiential points along the Greenway, Capital Ring towpath and Stratford High Street.

Two films were made as part of this series, the short documentary shown above, as well as an audio tour of Bow Bells Ring from the artist Colin Priest.

The installation ran from 25th June — 3rd August 2011, and also took part in the 700th year anniversary celebrations of Bow Church on 17-18 September 2011.

Bicycle Thieves is a unique outdoor show, combining theatre, BMX choreography and pedal-powered sound from theatre company Pip Productions.

Inspired by Luigi Bartolini's novel Ladri Di Biciclette, Bicycle Thieves updates the classic father and son story from post-war Rome to London today, and replaces bicycles with BMXes. A timeless drama with a contemporary edge.

Artist Faisal Adbu’Allah created 'Double Pendulum', a new film about breathing and movement involving professional athletes and world-class leading scientists.

Two films were made as part of this series, the short documentary shown above showing public reaction to the screening at the films premiere in in June 2011 next to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, as well as an interview with Faisal about the project.

4H is an invention by artist Gavin Turk and designer Ben Wilson, allowing four people to ride unicycles as a community. 4H is a site-specific invention for View Tube which sits on The Greenway next to the London 2012 Olympic Park.
