Emma Stern’s “Revenge Body” at Carl Kostyal.

On view starting tonight, Thursday, May 13th, 2021 at Carl Kostyal’s in London is artist Emma Stern’s solo exhibition, “Revenge Body.”

Emma Stern combines a commitment for traditional painting techniques with a millennial interest in digital media and gaming and explores notions of gender, pornography and identity in the community of avatars. Employing traditional techniques including monochromatic underpainting and the chiaroscuro of the Old Masters, while using virtual 3D programs and models, she refreshes portraiture with a sharp feminist touch.
