For the anon with the dorky boy gets girl thing, like if you look at 80's movies most of them have that type of thing happen, like Weird Science and You Can't Buy Me Love. Hiccstrid is better than those romances since the guys in those stories had ultimate goals of becoming popular or just having sex, while with Hiccup the romance popped up and he went with it, and it turned out incredibly well.

Yeah, those are the sort of movies that I grew up watching so the dynamic of Hiccstrid was not only not new to me... it was a bit overdone.

And... um... I'll have to disagree with you about what Hiccup wanted.  He wanted popularity and ladies in the beginning... if you recall.  There was lust, there was glory, and that's a good chunk of what 15-year-old Hiccup was about that people happily ignore for some reason.

It was Toothless, not Astrid, that redirected Hiccup's focus onto more respectable goals and helped him grow up.

This is a thought I got a while ago, and I love how you form an opinion on things, I was wondering how you think Hiccup throwing the toy Valka made into the ocean went over from Stoicks standpoint? A lot of anger and shouting or silent fuming? Or a different reaction from him?

Well, Stoick did chuckle as he was recalling the memory, but then, time tends to dull angry moments in our lives.

At this point, it’s safe to say that this incident happened well after Valka was gone.  Hiccup could throw shit, at least. And probably toddle himself to the sea.

It could be that he was young enough to be in Stoick’s arms at the time and, as Stoick looked over the sea, perhaps recalling his wife, he tucked the toy into his son’s arms... his son gave that terrified shriek he always did when he saw it and threw it into the sea.

For that case (or something similar) Hiccup would be too small for Stoick to be properly angry with.  If he were older, he might have gotten a talking to or a super lash of guilt for throwing away something from his mother.

So, yeah, it depends on how old Hiccup was. If he were old enough to be conscious of throwing away something of his mother's or, as I feel it's implied, he was simply reacting out of childish fear--in which case, Stoick would be silently hurt, but not lash out at his son.  Me thinks.
