Emma slowly nodded, she couldn’t believe it, she had been in ninth grade for two weeks and she has already failed a test. It wasn’t a big deal, it was the first test of the year, it was only on algebra but to Emma, it was a huge deal. “It doesn’t feel like it, I feel like after this test, all of my other tests I will fail, what if I never go to college?!” She asked in full panic mode.

Caroline tried not to laugh. It wasn’t easy since she knew all about high school and college. She knew failing one test didn’t mean that she would fail all of them. But Emma didn’t know that. She pressed her lips to Emma’s forehead and nodded slowly. “I understand that’s how you feel, but that’s not going to happen, okay? It was your first test. It’s okay. You know what? You learn best from failing. What would you have gained from passing? Think about it, Em.”
