5 Common Words Related in Civil Engineering
1. Computer-aided Design (CAD) - also known as Computer-aided Drafting. It is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.
ex. In grade 10, we practice creating technical drawing using CAD or Auto-cad in our computer system.
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work.
ex. Construction workers are advice to wear PPE for their own safety.
3. Dimensioning - process placing measurements in a drawing in the metric or english system.
ex. A floor plan should have a proper dimensioning so it will be more clear and precise.
4. Infrastructure - basic physical and organizational structures, like buildings and roads, needed for society.
ex. After the typhoon, the engineering firm helped rebuild the plumbing and road infrastructure around the devastated community
5. Blueprint - a diagram or technical drawing, a plan for a building or machine that explains how to do or develop something.
ex. I looked at the blueprint to figure out the exact dimensions of the building.
