Emperor Doviculus from Brutal Legend - Aluminum Foil Sculpture
still remains as one of my biggest hear me outs
Doviculus
Didn't have room for the horns, sorry.
ROCKTOBER #9 SWEET TRUE LIES
“It’s simple, isn’t it?” His voice dripped with honey, a cloying sweetness that set Ophelia’s teeth on edge. He circled around her, his hooves clattering against old stone. The thick fog moving across couldn’t hide the wretched form of Doviculus from her sight. He stuck out, something disgusting in a peaceful weary place. The doom lands were being tainted by his presence alone. “You and I have a common goal, my dear.”
“How do I know you won’t betray me?” Ophelia questions, warily watching the demon emperor. She sharpened the tears at her fingertips. Ready to strike.
“You don’t.” He says simply, “But, what is his death worth to you? How badly do you want to see that whelp dead?”
“I’m going to kill him.” She says plainly. No hesitation in stating the obvious. She tore apart the damn landscape to find Eddie Riggs.
“My goal is the same. Why not let me assist you? I certainly won’t, get in the middle of your battle plans.” He continues, wiggling his fingers vaguely at the word plans. Disinterest clear on what her actual plans were. Ophelia wasn’t sure if she was insulted or relieved. The less he knew the better. “I can help corral the little thing and his army for you. Guide him directly into that maw of yours. You snap the trap and crush him.”
“What are you getting out of this? I want the final blow, I want his body and soul as mine.” She wouldn’t relent on that. She had a casket built for him. Ophelia intended to display him.
“I want that little half demon gone. He’s done enough to disrupt all of our lives. I’d like to go back to my own schedule. Not chase after a hatchling like him.” He extends a hand to hers, an offer. “So, do we have a deal?”
Ophelia isn’t a fool. She knows what this is. He would gladly kill her the first chance he had. She tips her head to the side, before offering a hand in kind.
It isn’t like he could kill her in a way that would matter.
He raises her hand to his lips, aged leather and tusks bump against her knuckles. Disgust settles low in her gut. Sweet true lies had their places. This was one of those places.
“I look forward to working with you.” He smiles, the leather squeaks. Ophelia gives a curtsy, her eyes trained on him. The sea burbled sharpened once again, ready to lash out if he came at her. He was in her territory, she could kill him so easily…
“Enjoy it while you can, demon.” She answers. Doviculus chuckled lowly, unfurling his wings. Without another words he flew into the sky, disappearing into the fog. A disgusting smear of sludge in her skyline.
“Death always calls, I suppose.” She muses to herself. “As long as Eddie Riggs is mine, that is all that matters.”
Blorbo: Emperor Doviculus
{Oh...OH! You want me to gush about this guy? This glorious BDSM demon? Because I will! If I had a nickel for every time Tim curry voiced a seductive demon lord, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's a shame that it only happened twice!}
[Long ago, the world was dark...For I was but a fool and didn't understand metal...THEN a great beast flew into being and it was called...Brütal Legend.
I won't lie...I love 95% of the game. I'm not a fan of the RTS (real-time strategy), but other than that, I fucking love the lore. Oh, I can drown in this game's lore, and I pray to Ormagöden we get that long-awaited sequel because I need it! I need this unholy monster to return before something happens to Tim Curry (the man had a stroke and is in his 70s; don't miss out on bringing him back, you fools!).
But I'm getting ahead of myself. this is about the man...The Emperor of the Tainted Coil...Doviculus. Yet we're gonna need a small history lesson.
According to the Artifacts of Legend, the First Ones were the first forms of life in the dark desert of the world's early days. They were so hideous that they could not bear to look at each other or themselves, and so they cherished the darkness that hid their forms.
When Ormagöden appeared, his light illuminated the First Ones, revealing their hideous visages. The First Ones escaped to the darkness of the underworld, where they fed from Madronal, the Teated Tree of Drinking. One of the First Ones discovered Madronal's source, the song of Aetulia, and captured her.
Aetulia was an ancient and beautiful being, who lived in the Untouched Place, singing to the roots of Madronal, the teated tree of drinking, which would then turn it to nourishment for the ungrateful First Ones who had escaped underground in order to escape Ormagöden's baneful light. The most avaricious of the First Ones trapped her in a cage and forced her to sing only for him, thereby gaining great power and becoming the First King.
The First King used Aetulia's song to lure Ormagöden to the ground, where the First Ones attempted to kill him; however, instead of simply being killed, he exploded, creating the sun and the oceans, which flooded through the world, drowning the First Ones. After being used to destroy the Cremator of the Skies, Aetulia was abandoned in the darkness. There, she wept constantly until she turned to dust, creating a Sea of Black Tears. Legend states that to this very day, one can still hear her sorrowful and alluring song between the cracks of the mountain that seals the Sea off from the rest of the world.
Those who would drink from the Sea are granted a fraction of Aetulia's power. However, they will also be cursed with her all-consuming and eternal grief. Eventually, they would turn mad and destroy themselves, for they could not bear her great sorrow.
Though the First Ones were destroyed, new life ascended from the seas formed from Ormagöden's blood. The creatures that combined the hideous appearance of the First Ones with the anger of Ormagöden were called the Tainted Coil.
The first of the Tainted Coil emerged from the seas created from the blood of Ormagöden, retaining his anger and the vile appearance of the First Ones. They would have been wiped out if it hadn’t been for the Titans, who took to keeping them as pets, and gave them restrictive S&M leather outfits to help them to better resemble their masters.
The Titans were an ancient race of giant beings born from the sea of Ormagöden's blood. They were blessed with the strength, size, and power of Ormagöden, but also the grace and beauty of the angelic Aetulia.
At the dawn of recorded history, the Titans used the scattered parts of Ormagöden to build their Civilization; constructing cars, instruments for music and even weapons said to be superior to even the most powerful of modern day arms. It was the Titans who first discovered the power of Metal, and much of their artifacts are the bedrock of modern day technology and society, with many viewing them as akin to Gods, and not without good reason.
At the height of their power, the Titans collectively decided to transcend the mortal world, ascending into the heavens to become all-powerful Metal Gods. Before this, however, they scattered their knowledge across the world to ensure that those who followed them would be able to walk the same path of glory and advancement. As the last of their instructions were inscribed upon stone tablets, the remaining Titans rose from the Earth, leaving their civilization behind.
A small population of Titans, marginally less powerful than their fellows, remained behind to continue their work in the mortal world. They can be seen working diligently deep within the Motor Forge, laboring to create glorious new weapons of rock.
After the Titans ascended to the heavens to become the Metal Gods, the Coil searched the world for some remnant of them and, through magic, created Humans through worship of a Titan's toenail. Rather than loving their new creations, the Coil saw their small size as an insult to the legacy of the Titans and immediately grew to hate them, quickly enslaving them.
In a bid to reclaim the lost secrets of the Titans, The Demon Emperor Succoria traveled forward in time using an idol of Ormagöden. She took with her a small group of slaves, including one murderous stowaway. When she failed to return, Doviculus became the new Emperor of the Tainted Coil.
Now...Why did I spend so much time going over the backstory? BECAUSE THIS BLOODY GAME BARELY USES THIS!! Doviculus is made to be the main antagonist, but he's hardly in the game (granted when he is, he steals the show and is fucking awesome). By comparison, Ophelia is more of the villain in the second half than Doviculus, and in the first half, it was Lionwhyte! Doviculus is just a final boss who had such a lackluster buildup. Sure, he killed Lars, cool. But Lars kinda just stood there like a dumbass and said "Yeah, I'm king of the humans and we're gonna rebel against you". Painting the biggest "please stab me" target on his chest. Doviculus doesn't even come across as evil per se. He's just the guy that's in charge and we hear he does things that are to hinder us but we don't see it. Instead, we deal with Eddie's relationship drama bullshit all game. The game's director, Tim Schafer, hinted in an interview that, were a sequel ever to be made, that Doviculus may return and could have been changed by The Sea of Black Tears.
Double Fine believed they were given the go-ahead to develop a sequel to Brütal Legend after the game's release, and had invested a great deal of development time towards this, but were later told by EA that it was cancelled. Schafer stated that the sequel would likely incorporate much of what they had to drop prior to the game's release. This game world would have been three times larger than what Brütal Legend contained. The sequel would have likely included a fourth faction that was cut from the original game which would have been the last major group the player would have to fight through, including a major boss character, before the final battles with Doviculus. Schafer further noted that at the end of the original game, Doviculus' head falls into the Sea of Black Tears, and implied that the same effect that the Sea had on Ophelia could happen to Doviculus. Schafer also had ideas for a plot using a character voiced by Ronnie James Dio, but will not likely be used due to Dio's death.
The cancellation of the sequel nearly ruined Double Fine, as they had invested all current efforts toward the title. Instead of a sequel, Double Fine began work on four smaller projects, Costume Quest, Stacking, Iron Brigade (formerly titled Trenched) and Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, based on prototypes they had created from "Amnesia Fortnights" during the development period where they had lacked a publisher. In these two-weeks sessions, the Double Fine team was split into four groups and each tasked with creating a small prototype game to share with the rest of the company; all four mini-games were well received internally. Upon hearing of the cancellation of the sequel, Schafer and his team began to promote these games around, and were able to obtain publishing deals for all four titles. The games will be able to take advantage of the custom game world engine and other assets they had created for Brütal Legend. The titles were considered financial successes, allowing Double Fine to recover and pursue further game development though steering away from major AAA releases.
As of 2013, Schafer is still interested in a sequel to Brütal Legend, but would require appropriate funding and resources to make it happen as an independent developer. Since then, Double Fine launched a successful crowd-funded drive for Psychonauts 2 in December 2015; Schafer said that if that game does well, there is a good chance that a sequel to Brütal Legend would be possible. Tim Schafer said June 13 during an appearance at E3 2017 that Brütal Legend will eventually get a sequel.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS METAL, LET THEM MAKE THIS GAME!!!]

Sooooo I did a silly and redrew Eddie and Doviculus from my Brutal Warhammer Au !!!!!
Now- THIS AU IS STILL HEAVILY IN DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT WARHAMMER (yet), but I do have some basic information about the au for now ^^
Eddie kind of takes the place of Skarbrand in this au. He’s basically Khorne’s favorite daemon, and the one he sends out for the real important shit. Like getting the skull of Ursun, the dying bear god of Kislev (Warhammer Russia basically)
Doviculus is a keeper of secrets! They’re a Slaanesh daemon, and one of the most powerful ones, for that matter. He is sent by Slaanesh to take the body of Ursun so she can do…uhhhh things to it. She’s kind of the god of EVERYTHING excess so she’s gonna do everything to that thing LOL.
Anyways yeah that’s most of what I have for now, but my brother is teaching me more about Warhammer and I’m learning more about it myself ^ so I’ll be developing the au more soon. (Though I might get busy with school)
