"HANNEMAN DEFENSE SQUAD WHERE ARE YOUUUU no but i’m so serious i love this man. like yes he can be kind of nosy and ridiculous and way too excited about crests in a way that makes everyone around him go sir PLEASE calm down, but then the game keeps reminding you that his research is not just random academic curiosity to him. he cares!!! he has reasons!!! and i always get fond of characters where the goofy surface and the serious undercurrent are both real at the same time. also he’s just funny. i’m sorry. every support where he starts intensely professor-ing at someone against their will is gold to me."
"The more you see of him, the more it becomes clear that his obsession with Crests is tied to a real anger at what Crest-based society does to people. He isn’t studying them because he worships the system, if anything he wants to understand them well enough to take some of their power away from the people who use them to control everyone else. His supports with characters like Edelgard and Lysithea really help too, because you can feel how much the social damage around Crests matters to him, not just the science of them."
